I think the 5GB for $59.99 is fair. How bout a 20GB for $79.99, 50GB for $99.99 and 100GB for $149.99 and Unlimited for $199.99?
At least this way we can tell a customer they coulda been on a higher plan
...
I think those sound pretty fiar. Theere already is a save plan for $199.99. I'm not exactly sure the usage though. I'm thinking it's pretty low.
I'd actually like to see the $39.99 upped. Maybe to at least 2BG. I think that would be fair and a good choice for a lot of people. Or add another option in between at $49.99.

I don't mind the extra training it would take for me to be able to offer more choices, especially to my business data customers

From a sales point of view, I'd have to point out that a $40 2GB option and a $60 5GB option will land you the lower tier most every time, giving you lower commissions. Trying to explain Gigabytes to many customers is like trying to teach someone a foreign language in five minutes or less. So when the sales rep comes out with gibberish, the customer's going to default to what they can wrap their heads around: I don't want to spend too much. "I'll take the $40 plan!"
Verizon's no dummy, either. They're in business to make money, as people always say, and having a huge difference between the $40 50MB plan and the $60 5GB plan will land them the higher plan almost every time, either at the point of sale or within the first month.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt the issue more than just different options? Isnt there some sort of network capacity issue, hence the data caps now?
...
I agree. I just think they need to do a little more to get the residential market as well. We have a lot of people that would do it if it were a little cheaper.

I hear once we go LTE, it will be unlimited again

I'd lay solid money that the Netbook launch will result in a floor to ceiling revamp of VZW data pricing. Here's my take:
$39.99: 1 GB
$59.99: 3 GB
$79.99: 5 GB
$99.99: 10 GB
I further predict that the word "unlimited" will completely disappear from all VZW EVDO plans of any kind- including VCast, Smartphone, Blackberry, and Push To Talk devices. They will be replaced with fixed-cap bolt on packages that look a bit like:
$15.00: 2 GB
$40.00: 5 GB
$60.00: 10 GB
We're reaching the point where data usage on a handset cannot be classified and billed differently from data usage on a computer card. That pricing model worked with early adopters and low-volume overall data usage network wide, but not in the future with iPhone-l...

I totally disagree that they will raise the prices. No way the 5GB would go from $59.99 to $79.99. I like your 1GB for $39.99 or something similar.

Wait and see. The stated expectation on the $59.99 plan was that it was designed for an average 2GB/month user, and built bigger to simplify pricing and avoid confusion on slightly heavier users billing.
With the massive mobile data appetite that is emerging, something is going to have to change. Pushing out 5GB for $60 does not leave much room for profit, I'd wager.
Who knows, maybe we're both wrong. In fact, it's pretty good odds we ARE both totally wrong. Let's not forget also that when mobile data first launched, it WAS $80/month for unlimited usage. That price point is not beyond reason.

Usually things go down with time though, not up. I think it needs to still go down to be fair.
