I Love VZ Navigator

Sure, I use it pretty regularly, and it always comes in handy for looking up phone numbers and whatnot, but man...it's nights like tonight when I really appreciate VZ Navigator. Apparently, giving any indicator that a road is closed ahead would be completely impossible around here, so I nearly drive through a bunch of orange cones that're arranged across the road.

I don't have a GPS unit in my car, but I do have VZ Navigator, namely for the aforementioned reasons, as well as the fact that I'm the absolute worst person for getting lost and whatnot. Despite it having me take a drastically different route that was so far outside of my original route, it managed to get me home only ten minutes later than intended.

Yes, I realize that this ...

I love it also. It is my first GPS-Device ever, but I want to know when the new version of it will be available for the Curve, because I heard that the VZ Navigator for the cell phones has everything from up to date traffic updates to gas stations and their prices. Any info?

No idea. I don't tend to really read up on the BlackBerry stuff all that much. I'm surprised that VZW doesn't have it updated for the BlackBerry devices yet. The traffic updates kinda get in the way, in my opinion. I turned them off, personally. Granted, I decided to allow VZ Navigator to take me through downtown Pittsburgh at the worst possible time of the day. It was right after the most recent update, and I suppose that I had a bit too much faith in it. 🤣

I used to be a Class A 18-wheel truck driver, so when my wife's cousin moved into a new house and needed to get a 27 foot U-Haul full of furniture delivered, I was the natural nominee. After unloading the first round, my cousin's husband and I and another cousin were supposed to go pick up a set of second-hand laundry machines for them.

The husband was the only one who knew how to get were we were going. He's deaf, and doesn't read lips. I'm driving with the three of us crammed in the cab of the U-Haul and he's giving me gestures as to where to turn and such to find the place we're going. We get about 3 blocks from our destination on some little city side-road where none of us have ever been and there is a freight train at a DEAD STOP...

this thing is my life line. I use it 40% of the time.

I think tower triangulation is more efficient than satellites, assuming you have coverage of course! satellite based GPS is good when you are in the boonies.

Hahahaha...it's horrible in downtown areas with buildings in such close proximity to one another. Never again will I try it in such an area. Otherwise, yeah, it's pretty awesome.

Miniscule screen phone navigation is OK in a pinch. But unless you only use it once in a rare while at $3 per day, you would be MUCH better off purchasing even a low end dedicated navigation device such as one of the less expensive Garmin nüvi models. Buying a dedicated unit instead of spending $10 per month for VZ Navigator, you would be dollars ahead in about fourteen months and many dollars ahead for years to come. Of course, a higher end nüvi would be much more satisfying.

I dunno...I have it on my EnV2, my fiance has it on his EnV, and the internal screens are great for it! Plus, with the mark a point of interest, we were able to mark "our beach" from our first date that we had stumbled upon completely by accident and would never have been able to find again. Now we go back about once a month. It has saved my ass more than anything else (i even have onstar in my truck, and I cancelled it because this was better and quicker to use) LOVE IT! 😁

You don't exactly need a massive screen to display the things that VZ Navigator does. Also, it's unlikely that you'll carry your dedicated GPS unit around with you whenever one of your friends is doing the driving. Having it on a phone is great.

I understand the advantage of a dedicated GPS unit. What we are paying for is the convenience factor of having everything on one device. There have been many occassions where I use my phone and the VZ Nav on the fly (or pinch as someone would call it) b/c my friends don't have their GPS units on them or its still in the suitcase.

Surprisingly, the user interface and control for VZ Navigator is extremely simple, especially with a QWERTY keyboard. Those key factors, in my opinion, beat out the dedicated GPS units.
