Ha Ha who here has seen Verizon's new PTT commercial? It's funny as hell! It has some loser sprint guy with a big yellow phone stuck in concrete, and he's trying to reach someone to get help, but his pos nextel phone doesn't work. Then a verizon guy pulls up and says we all switch to verizons push to talk. Most reliable Push to Talk!
The way verizon advertises I see more sprint bleeding on the horizon.
Ha ha, won't work when the phone lines are down or no cellular signal is available.
This commercial is about as laughable as the one they had in 2003 that claimed their old PTT was the fastest!

Nextel fanboy list is getting smaller and smaller as the days go by: just closed a 20 line port over from Nextel with the Moto adventure.
Enjoy those ports while you can. Sprint is no longer afraid to do side-by-side comparisons like they were one year ago when doing those silly "light" commercials. They have been successful marketing the Instinct and pulling away some potential iPhone custies. Don't think they won't taut one of their flagship products, like PTT.

When does that ever happen, we are on Verizon not sprint! 🙄

Yeah, "the network" never goes down or fails to have a signal anywhere. I guess those three major outages they had last year in the Chattanooga area were just figments of everyone's imagination.

Well at least Verizon still owns a majority of their own towers.....What you got now fanboy! 🤣
Sprint didn't sell off their towers, they sold the real estate the towers are sitting on. All carriers do this. It's cheaper to maintain them this way.
The Phonescoop version stating that 3300 towers being "all" of their towers is incorrect. SprintNextel own over 50,000+ towers nationwide.
Again, only the tower locations (facilities) is what is being sold, not the antennas or equipment used to run the towers.
Sprint Nextel Announces Tower Sale to TowerCo for Approximately $670 Million in Cash
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Jul 23, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) today announced an agreement to sell approximately 3,300 towers to TowerCo for approximately $670 million in cash. Additionally, the two companies have entered into a long term leasing agreement where TowerCo will provide Sprint Nextel with wireless communications towers to support the company's CDMA, iDEN and WiMAX networks.

yeah well that's easy because sprint sucks ass 🤣 man this is like shooting fish in a barrel.
Yeah, which makes it even worse when you consider they totally OWN Verizon in the PTT area.

I wonder how many customers we are porting away from Sprint 😲 😳 🤣
Wonder how many will return a year from now when they discover their PTT phones won't work when "the network" is down?
I've had both services in different areas in the country.
It's not even close. 🙄

Those outages you spoke of are rare. I know you're not seriously going to compare Sprint's network with Verizon with regards to quality.

Network outages are rare anyway, but my point was that Cellenator is wrong when he says they never happen. Hopefully, he was only joking. Who knows?
Oh and fanboy it did actually go down in LA for the huricane. Nextel had to set up temp service in order for them to work again. Yes they had the first temporary network I will give you that but thats about it.
Just keep being jealous that we actually have a 3G network that covers more area than you do. Also our new PTT service works in more places than yours does...oh did I forget it works on our 1xrtt network also...does Qchat? Didnt think so. Its ok though keep losing a million customers a quarter.

Game over for you it will happen every time when you run up against me...now go play with your pos ic502.
Thanks, think I will. Lucky for me, my POS 502 will work up in the mountains where your big Verizon phone just says "no service." Oh well, can't win 'em all huh? 😎
Cellenator said:
😉 I'll let you know if that ever happens, but me and my G'zOne Boulder will be fine.
Go to Tellico Plains, TN- way up the mountain. It'll happen big time for you.
While you're there, take a ride on the Cherohala skyway. G-Zone will become the dead zone.

it is we're experiencing no difference in latency in 1X, there are very few areas that are not covered by 3G tho.
Unfortunately for you, the judge who heard the case back in 2003 when Nextel sued Verizon for making this false claim, doesn't agree with you.
Neither does Consumer Reports, Phonescoop, Howard Forums, or any other company that has tested VZw old PTT system. Why do you think they upgraded it if it was just as fast?
Cellenator said:
I'm talking about the New PTT jrfdsf. The few spots where we don't have EVDO we are noticing that 1X does not have any reduced latency with verizon New PTT. We are very pleased. Read up on the forum, verizon PTT is receiving rave reviews.
This discussion isn't about whether or not Verizon's new PTT system is getting good reviews or not, it's about their claim of being "most reliable."
My point is that this claim is false because their system will fail sooner and more often than will Nextel's.
As for the reviews, I will await Phonescoop's trial.
Cellenator said:
🤣 No!! This thread is about a commercial! You came in here and starting trolling! Duh...you're the only fool talking about Nextel 🙄
Which only proves you are the one off-topic, talking about PTT speeds and rave reviews, rather than the merits of the commercial itself.

Everything is for sale- at the right price. Sprint is still a business trying to make money, right?
The Nextel sale won't happen because it is still a big part of their revenue.
QChat probably will replace iDEN- someday, but it won't be anytime soon. iDEN is still the fastest and most reliable PTT system out there, and that is why it ain't going away in the near future.
I disagree with the commercial, but t...

Your line of site theory is BULLSH*T! If a cell site is completly down its not going to work PERIOD.
Oh and yes Verizon does actually have a larger 3G footprint than Sprint. You do realize that Qchat uses EVDO Rev A right not iden.
Also how does Iden work off network? Just curious...you seem to have all of the answers...
Also we all know that the OLD Verizon PTT network sucked. Thats why they stopped advertising it.
Oh and one more thing to add. You're a moron and a troll and no one really cares.

Your line of site theory is BULLSH*T! If a cell site is completly down its not going to work PERIOD.
Line of sight is not a theory, it's how Directalk works. It basically is a digital off-network walkie-talkie that works like an FRS radio system. in other words, it doesn't require a network signal to operate. If you have a Verizon phone and are in a place where there's no network signal, your phone doesn't work.

But if you want to DirectTalk outside your 6 mile range you're SOL, right?
Direct Talk is an all-digital off-network walkie-talkie service that
works anywhere, anytime between compatible phones within a
range of up to 6 miles (Range will vary based on terrain
and conditions). You can make and receive Direct Talk calls
outside of network coverage or network service is not available.
You can talk to anyone on your code and channel within your
range who has a Direct Talk-capable phone.
So other than others local, it's useless, right?
