Hi this is my first post. My wife and I were waiting for the replacement for the V60i for the 911 feature. Then motorola came out with the v60p. We don't want or need the PTT feature nor do I care for the thicker form factor.

We are replacing 2 startac 7868s. We both like the samsung but the current one is all digital. Does anyone know when the trimode version will be out(A650?)?

Also Alltell now hass the V60x does anyone know if Verizon will release this phone? I have seen some being sold on eaby.

The new 8600 looks like a good phone but I am not sold on the Hundai Audiovox products. My kids have the lg 44oo and the T720. Neither of the two are what we are looking for.

We still need trimode phones. I like verizon but they alwa...

I don't think you will seem much more of Trimode handsets from Verizon anymore.. They are tring to go completly digital.

if verizon goes completely digital what happens to the outlying areas that are still analog. I believe some of these areas are owned by smaller carriers and verizon is roaming in those areas.

If verizon goes all digital they will have the same coverage as sprint.

One other thing.. is this all just for the 911 feature?? does your area even have support for E911?? The reason I ask, is becuase untill it does the function is pretty much useless.. and there a few areas which it can be used in right now.

Big Poppa, We were waiting for the the replacement for the V60i because we were told it would have the 911 feature. Later I found out what you are saying that it isn't available in most areas yet. And now I wish I woould have gotten the V60i phones when they were clearing them out.

So now there is no V60i or the new V60x. I don't want the V60p as I don't need push to talk and its thicker.

Anyway My wife sort of likes the 8600, likes the samsung much better, but it is only digital. The 720 is a nice phone but battery life is short. My daughter has the 4400 which seems to be a good phone but we both want something a little more compact.

Will the trimode samsung come out soon and is the V60x a possibility. I actually have read where...

Oh also Using alltel phones on the verizon network is very doable ,but as you guessed all bets are off. It would not be worth the purchase.

No more tirmode phones from what I've heard. They are supposed to remove the analog by april.

do you think that if they remove the analog that they will still be able to claim "largest nationwide network" ?

i am just curious where the direction of these companies is going...mergers, etc. ??

Verizon Wireless is not "Removing" Analog.. They are "Replacing" Analog with digital. So there will be no loss in coverage.. and Then they will be able to claim they are the Largest ALL DIGITAL network, and make Sprint PCS Change it's claim to being the 2nd Largest All Digital, or at least make Them only Say they are the Largest ALL DIGITAL ALL PCS(1900mhz) Network

Not true. The rumor about Verizon dropping all analog anytime soon is false. The FCC mandates that they have to keep analog on for a few more years - and I would be surprised if they drop all of analog even after the FCC allows it.

Brian is right on the money. Not only are all carriers required to keep their analog sites working through 2007, Verizon still has thousands of analog-only customers.

Then there are the dozens of analog-only, or mostly analog cell companies that cannot afford to upgrade. And then there are the Verizon roaming partners, like AT&T, who will, most likely, never upgrade to CDMA digital. Would Verizon want to just cut off some of its included coverage?

Just because Verizon now offers a digital-only phone is no reason to think it is the wave of the future. Since Verizon released the a530, it has released at least a couple more tri-mode phones, like the v60p.

I'm hoping Verizon is skipping over the v60x in order to offer the newer, v60...
