Beware of Costco cell phone stand business practices!!!!

by fspilot1971    Oct 17, 2007, 10:39 PM

I have been a Verizon wireless customer for over 10 years and a Costco customer over 12 years. Last year I bought
2 cell phones from the "2 man" operation inside Costco wherehouses, because
they told me if anything should happen they would replace my cell phones "no
questions asked". I bought them there because the last 2 cell phones I had gotten from Verizon weren't very dependable Mad ....Now, A year later I am having problems with my cell phones draining batteries, I took it to Costco and they said it was the phones....I
said ok, I want to switch them for another phone, or the same if you have them.....they said ok, but you need to bring everything back with them. (including the cheap leather cases they gave me as a bonus which lasted about 2 weeks and I threw away once they broke). They said that because of not having the cases, I couldn't return them. I bought those phones
at Costco because of the warranty they used to offer last year, if not I wouldn't have spent $100 extra per phone than what I would have paid at the Verizon store.

I talked to the the cell phone stand manager(who gave me a copy of the new contract they make people sign...which was not the contract I signed), and Costco manager in the Foster City, Ca. store and neither were of any help, and not very sympathetic at all. Mad

I then went to the Verizon store near by and
they actually helped me by getting me two new phones, without me having to spend a dime in the return, and also had me file a complaint against that poor excuse of a cell phone stand those people are running inside Costco.....they actually told me they get a few complaints a week because of Costco. Paranoid

The reason I am posting this is to make people aware of the scam Costco is running through this cell phone stand......I paid $360 total for both phones so they could throw in a bonus $5 ear piece, $2 leather pouch and $5 car charger plus the warranty....If I would have got it through the Verizon store direct both those phones would have been $160 I would have not gotten cheap accessories and I would still be getting new phones to replace my old bad ones through Verizon......Verizon really came through, I just wish they would have better control of the 3rd party stands who sell their phones and services.
