I'm not sure if this has been addressed yet..

but there is an outage in Texas which is causing your cell phones to display No Service, no customer service rep nor Chuck Norris himself can change this...

hopefully it will be resolved within the hour

thanks

Is it just me or is this particularly annoying? I know this is not the first time this has happened. According to the news, one switch caused the outage. How does ONE switch do this much to their network? And how come it took four hours to restore service? And it took out all the reps access to accounts and our voicemail. Where is the redundancy? Verizon claims the most reliable network. This is not reliability. I am tired and may be overreacted(likely am, to some degree), but I feel as if Verizon is truly lying in its advertisements to a degree that borders on fraud. As I said, I am tired and irritable. So maybe it is just me.

YEP, VZW has alot of splaining ta do. Dallas is having one of their most important weekends. State fair and the local OU vs. UT rivalry. Most of you laugh, but of all times to be flat on VZW _ss, not a good Friday afternoon 5 hour total outage. Better offer those pretty phones NOW to save customers in the Dallas area, it's called Monday morning porting! Tonight ATT is really laughing. an outage affecting several hundreds of thousands of customers!!! It made national news....it's the network all right.

There is no explaining needed, VZW never claimed the service is flawless. There are outages on a daily basis. The only abnormal part of this one was how long it lasted.

If customers leave over a 4-5 out outage that means they are probably already pretty upset about other things and it is probably a good thing they leave because they think another carrier will work better for them. Its better to lose an unhappy customer than to have one that just complains.

Lets see, over the past few years:

1) After the major Florida hurricanes, most carriers were only working 10-30%, VZW was 90% +. Afterward the emergency services depts for Florida switched from Nextel to VZW.

2) New Orleans flooding, same thing. VZw network had more up time. New Orleans city officials switch to VZW afterward.

3) After 911, VZW services handled more calls than other services.

4) Winter storm in Colorado last year. VZW helps restore service with other carriers.

5) California wildfires last 1-2 years in So-Cal.

Outages happen, but as you can see in time of crisis, VZW was most reliable.

you were very polite not to bash my earlier comments. a 5 hour outage in a city of millions especially on the biggest weekend of the dallas year was very unfortunate timing.

And because of that, you have to wonder if the switch overheating wasn't related to that. How many extra people were visiting the area and using the network? I can imagine it was loaded down pretty good...
