🙄

I am in search of a device that I can hook my VX4400 to, and connect it to a cordless landline phone. I seen this on TV the other day on the news, and I have tried to contact the news channel, but I have not had any luck.

THe news channel said it would run about $60.00 but no one in the Toledo, Ohio area sells them yet.

Does anyone know what I am talking about? It is the size of a cordless phone base, and your cellular phone sits inside the base, and you are able to use your cellular airtime minutes, but carry your conversations on your cordless phone that is connected to your cellular phone.

The device you may be talking about is available for Cingular service, it is know as "Fastforward" and works with Motorola, Nokia, Siemens, and Sony Erisson phones on Cingular's system.

The February 2004 issue of Consumer Reports has an article on page 7.

I guess my confusion lies with what cordless phone will you be using if you have no service? Does this "converter" work with any cordless phone regardless if there is landline service attached to it?

The device you are looking for is called the CellSocket. You take a Motorola or Nokia cell phone and dock it in the base. When docked, you can use your home phones to speak over your cell phone. When an incoming call comes in, your home phone lines will ring. If you wish to place an outgoing call, you simply dial the number on your home phone handset and press # which is the same as Send.

Another advantage is that the device has an external antenna which will boost your signal by several db's.

The device currently only works with limited Nokia and Motorola models. You can read more information about it at www.cellsocket.com

The story on the news you saw was on CBS which featured another device called the Dock-N-Talk.
