Is Verizon REALLY that good?

Well I am a AT&T customer currently on a 2yr aggrement. I am thinking of switching carriers when my contract ends. I have started doing my research on which carrier to go to next and I seem to hear nothing but good things about Verizon...until I found phone scoop. This is the first time I have actually heard anyone say anything negative about Verizon. I still am looking to see if they truly are "the best" but right now I don't like the phones they have out. I do like the LG vx6000 but I am pretty sure they will have bigger and better phones by the time my contract expires in 2005. I am really looking for a phone carrier with walkie talkie options. Before Nextel was the only way to go but now I see Verizon and now Sprint getting in on the act...

Because they actaully care about their network, and do invest a lot of money in it, rather than the latest phone that has a game boy built in for your 5 year old.

What seperates Verizon from the other carriers in Michigan & Ohio is the service. Verizon is very well known in this area, and according to the latest I have read, Verizon is and has remained to be one of the top 20 cellular carriers. Verizon is very well known, and they are spending 32 billion every QUARTER on thier network to make improvements, add towers, etc. In this area of Ohio, I do not know of very many people that are happy with any other carrier than Verizon. Yes, as with any carrier, we can not guarantee coverage, or that you will be able to sit in your favorite chair at home, and use your cellular phone, but it will come. If you are looking for a cellular phone provider to work when you need it and where you need it to work...

Verizon shines with its network generally, not everywhere. The actual only way to KNOW is to try it out yourself! 🙂 People can shpeal on and on about how good, how bad, etc it is, but its really up to the customer for the most part, what they like and etc.

I can say that phones sold don't mean anything espacially with dealers just trying to make commition off of everything.

To be honest. If your contract doesnt expire until 2005, then I would look then. Thats a WHOLE year away! Every company will have a TOTALLY new lineup by the time your contract expires.

You don't hear anything bad about verizone because if anyone tarnished their image Verizon would probably try and ****ing kill them. Just like on the forum. You say one bad thing about Verizon in any forum and Verizon reps come running and start screaming. Ya sometimes they may be right, sometimes blowing smoke out their asses, just like everyone is capable of. Just look for the best signal/price range for you. good luck

Verizon NETWORK is quite good. Verizon selection of HANDSETS sucks. I've been a Verizon customer for 7 years and it has always been like that. The network is okay, but the phones are always a year or two behind the market.

Coverage-wise, Verizon is okay, but not as good in some areas in California as AT&T wireless TDMA. For example, Verizon coverage along Mission boulevard in Fremont, CA (that is the area with a million dollar houses!) is spotty and I get a lot of dropped and missed calls when I travel along that route. They have NO coverage in Guerneville (Russian River area), while AT&T has stellar signal there. The list goes on.

But in the areas where they do have coverage, the service is good. So obviously your perception of Verizo...

That's because all the "cool phones" are crap. Take your pick, hey guys I got this way cool phone it's got all these features, I drop calls like crazy and most likely I'll have to return it 4 or 5 times do to manufactur defects but hey I have a cool phone! OR nice phone with not all the up to date cool features that is WELL tested and works great! VZW makes their phone makers sign a contract saying only a certin percentage of their phones will come back defective. So don't get made at vzw get mad at the phone companies themselves.. ie motorola, LG, etc. Tell them to make GOOD QUALITY phones with cool features, they might listen.

My MOT 720 was exchanged twice then repaired, so with all their testing it proves that they are not so error free and slow to deliver new products that their consumers want.

Appreciate the response, 720 has worked OK since the last repair. The Audiovox 8910 looks interesting.

oh yeah that 8910 is sweet. If Verizon does get it, then I'm sure it'll be a while before it's launched. Hopefully the end of 2004 it'll be here 🙂

Check out the Febuary issue of Consumer Reports.

Verizon Wireless ranks #1 in all 12 markets surveyed.

This didn't happen by accident 😁
