Well, I'm going to go out on a limb here (well not really) and say, judging by your grammar/"ebonics" in your post that the real reason you are going to Sprint/Att is because.....

1.) You cant pass Verizons credit check (probably the case)

2.) Your a 13 year old white kid from a upper middle class family deperatly trying to fit in with over used "black" slang (also very possible, because really, who says " i dont care wut nobody say they spit hot fire. vzw did...

Well said, minus the fact that you're a racist and self righteous fool.

VZW sucks. They train their employees to be pretentious butt clowns. (You're post is a case in point.)

And if you knew anything about anything, you would realize that the credit check for VZW and AT&T is about the same. You can't get a phone with VZW, you're probably not going to with any major carrier.

I know, because I work for Sprint and T-Mobile. If you can't pass credit with them, Amp'd or Alltel, or some other lesser known carrier MIGHT take you.

Ok, yeah this guy is a bit crazy. But when you say inferior network, I wouldn't go that far. First of all, Sprint has a LARGER and FASTER broadband/EVDO network BY FAR. You wanna use internet, aircards, etc?? Sprint is much better than Verizon. As far a voice network, sure VZW is a bit bigger, but Sprint has improved greatly and its only a matter of time before they are even in size. But hey, thats why Sprint lets their customers roam on VZW for free with 7PM nights. It's a no brainer folks.

No, that is incorrect. Sprint and VZW started an EVDO roaming agreement either late last year or early this year. It might not have been announced on sprint's end, but it was on the VZW end. VZW had to get softwear updates for a few of its phones to be able to support the authentication required for the roaming..

As for mysterio's numbers, I would like to know where they are coming from because those numbers for VZW dont match VZW internal documents so it seems like he is pulling numbers out of nowhere and trying to claim them as facts.

Sprints network can not hold a candle to verizon, there indoor coverage sucks! If you roam to much you'll get cut off so don't act like you can roam endlessly on verizon because you can't! The over all capacity of Sprint is much less than verizon, sprint needs all the massive roaming agreements because their native coverage is pathetic. They have the worse customers service in the industry and still leading with highest churn.

verizon uses PCS also on 50% of their network and all future towers will be 1900 as there is no spectrum left in 800. So verison sucks as bad a sprint as you put it with 50& of their coverage! Their native coverage is the same if not a little bigger then verizon. Your forget sprint built their from the ground up. Verizon bought theirs that others built! Except inthe north east were they started in! Yes Sprints CS sucks.

Aug 11, 2007, 2:06 PM
Verizon Wireless didnt "start" anywhere. Verizon Wireless was a buy out of several companies. There is no starting company, Vodafone and VZ started a new company, bought a bunch of other companies and merged those into one wireless company. This happen back in 2000, since then every tower on the VZW network has been upgraded, so the only part of the orginal towers that would be left might be the pole..

As for the 800/1900 part, that is based entirely on what spectrum VZW has in the area. If they have the 800 spectrum the towers run 800, if they have 1900 they run 1900, if they have both they run both.

Aug 17, 2007, 11:11 AM
Not necessarily... there are other ways to get good building/wall penetration than using the 800 MHz band... such as having more towers in an area, so that the average tower is closer to you.

In any case, VZW will always have more 800 MHz towers than Sprint does, since the number of 800 MHz towers Sprint has is zero.

Let's just say that, whichever way they do it, indoors reception has never been an issue for me with VZW, even when traveling. But with Sprint, it definitely was. โ˜น๏ธ

true on parts. However I am sure verizon does not put up a tower just to penetrate a building. It would not be cost effective.

SystemShock

Aug 17, 2007, 1:59 PM
No, they put up towers for capacity and coverage reasons. So the good building penetration comes, in part, from having good capacity and coverage in an area, i.e. a lot of towers (tho' 800 Mhz sure helps too).

Which, now that you bring it up, was another beef I had with Sprint. While it didn't happen too often (and certainly not as often as it did to some of my friends on ATT/Cingular), I would get the occasional 'network too busy' -type messages when I was with Sprint. โ˜น๏ธ

I think I've seen maybe one of those, ever, on VZW.

Aug 17, 2007, 4:04 PM
In-building penetration is very hard for almost every spectrum band out there but obviously as you go further up in the spectrum range the more difficult it becomes and then the carrier must do something to allow for a better in-door and overall experience for the customer. The real thing is for the tower companies in conjunction with the carriers to build smart antennas or little antennas on the roof of certain buildings that allow for that kind of construction. It is more difficult to just put regular towers on next to each other for a few reasons than put on those smart antennas or antennas on buildings; 1. The cost is very expensive to construct and maintain that tower and 2. It can take a lot of time from the plans in place to the actua...

Very crucial. ROIC is very important to this industry and the market will determine whether there will be more towers. Problem is, it takes a long time and it is very expensive to deploy such a thing. New technologies such as smart antennas would help. Other things like MMDS or Wimax would help also. Adding more t1s would too. Just it is an issue to do that. In a few places near where I live I saw 3 Verizon towers right next to each other.

Actually, the Sprint network is inferior in several ways. With regard to Rev-A technology, and data networks in general, Sprint has made the same mistake that AT&T and others made by mixing their voice and data users all together. The result is that voice and data users crowd each other out and compete for network space, which is limited at best on Sprint's network (there's a reason they posted a net loss of 400,000 subscribers in the busiest quarter of 2006). In contrast, Verizon's network operates on a split pipeline where voice and data users are kept separate from each other, allowing different kinds of customers to use different types of features with ease and efficiency. The Wall Street Journal had a great article two weeks ago esp...

LOL...cheap clothes. HAHA. Those 1.99 shorts that are too big is being cheap. One thing I've noticed is dress code for VZW requires us to wear something nice. My Rockports cost more then this guys entire outfit...lol.

calm down, you are the only one in this thread flipping out and by the way i have no clue what you are talking about, read the thread you responded to. In fact we are not even talking about the whole my carrier is better than you carrier garbge you just ranted about. We are discussing the way that thread was written. pretty sure your rant was posted off the wrong person

Hey,

Why be one in 40 thousand when you can be one in 1.3 million? LOL

For over a year I have kept reading about VZW sucks at this and VZW sucks at that and Sprint is better for monthly rates on data and phones. But yet I see Sprint's numbers dropping every quarter and VZW staying steady. Why is that?

Last quarter Sprint only netted 40k new POST paid customers...That is very, very sad.

Doesn't "spit hot fire" mean that the person sings great songs with great lyrics?

I.E. Mad Rhythms or Mad Lyrics

What does Spitting Hot Fire have to do with Sprint, AT&T and the RAZR?

And how bout this? "They spit hot fire. VZW didnt get the razr, I want 2 know why."

Spit fire? I guess that means the phone is cool?

And Verizon did get the Razr, and we are getting the Razr 2 also.

sprint rep here. no i am not going to make some general hating remarks about verizon and their bt or ui. but i tried reading some post from verizon to see what was discussed here. and damn u verizon rep/customers are worthless.
a whole post making fun of a guy and generalizing the hell out of ppl. u geeks that write all this hatin' post need to stop. i am pretty sure the rest of verizon's rep/customers arent as dim witted as you all. ๐Ÿ˜

well my comments are based on reading all this stupid post replies from the ppl hatin', not from one guy making one comment and me generalizing his whole life with just that. i dont demean ppl based on their carrier of choice thats the silliest crap ever. i admitted to the fact that i understand most verizon rep/custs arent dweebs like you all. that doesnt make me better that than any normal person but it does compared to the jerks i have seen here.

1.) A wireless carrier should be based off of it's network not it's phone selections.

2.) You must have liked something about the phones or else you wouldn't have been in a position where they were checking your credit.

3.) Razors are horrible. PERIOD.

4.) Why is your aunt paying for your phone?

Thanks for making a rediculous arguement.

I'm reading the threads from the top of the page to the bottom... if it's a thread that was dead then I apologize for ruining your day... maybe next time you should just control your reading abilities and skip to a better thread.

Sorry for ruining your life.

apology accepted. You didnt ruin my day. Im just asking you to be smart with your posts. You provided no new info to an already dead thread.

My question to you would be why? Sorry if my tone is a little harsh, but this forum is getting bogged down with nonsense and threads like this are a big part of it.

Now that I can understand. I actually didn't realize how long the thread was... and posted it in the wrong place. I assumed all the threads were going to be exactly like this - petty. I hadn't realized how long... or how out of place the thread was until afterwards. It's not something I plan on dwelling on after this.

Good (and SCARY) article. Lousy Sprint CS strikes again!!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I wonder how Sprint expects to make a comeback via WiMax, when they can't even execute at the most basic level... i.e. billing and CS. That's the kind of stuff that help kill off Amp'd. โ˜น๏ธ
