Forced into a Phone

DocDetroit

Jan 7, 2004, 12:44 PM
👿 Recently, my phone fell and broke and I had to get a new phone from VZM. I wanted to wait for the CDM 9500 but it wasn't out yet. I saw it on the phonescoop but of course they didn't know anything about it when I went to the dealer. As a result I was forced into buying a phone with me Two Up at the time. A phone I didn't want. I have the CDM 8900 and it is ok. They told me I have until Jan 15th to change out of phones. I am thinking about tradeing it in for another type of phone in hopes that the CDM 9500 comes out soon. Any advice?

Um how did they force you to buy the phone you got. Did they hold you down and say they'd hurt you if you didnt?

no one forces someone to buy a phone.people just says that after they get a ****ty FOR FREE phone instead of dishing out an addt'l $50 -60 bucks for a descent device. go w/ NOKIA 3589i go phone loud ,good battery and will not set you back a few hundred.

They are no longer available, Don't forget you get 15 days to try out the current phone and you can take it back. 🙂

Yeah, get insurance so YOU don't get YOURSELF into this situation again.

Totally true, people don't know much the insurance can save you. My advice is getting the insurance while you are within your contract for the equipment.

The best advise is to NOT DROP YOUR PHONE.

Actually, I would go out and find an old Star Tac or anything that works and use that until the phone you want comes out.
Stand in front of a store and ask all who go in if they are getting a new phone. Buy their old one for $5.00

duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i did not mean that completely literate.
BUT someone has a phone they would love to get $5 for. I know I have at least 2 startacs that are perfectly good and i am sure with a little checking someone can find a used phone to use for a few weeks or a few months. maybe even be able to get one free.
DUH! we would not want to harass any customers at the verizon stores. some of the salespersons do that quite nicely thank you.
not the most pleasant bunch at the store i go to and the other store only 5 miles away has the BEST group of salespersonnel. funny what a good sales manager can do. you see, there are 2 different sales managers and 2 different district managers. Obviously one is doing his job and the other? well.

I know in the Northeast they take what happens in the store very seriously. And we continue to take steps to correct bad situtations.

Yep, there is plenty of old Verizon phones on ebay.com.

Remember, you have a contract for SERVICE, not PHONE. You don't have to buy a new phone from Verizon just because you lost or broke your previous phone.

If you just need something that you could use until your current contract expires or until a new phone you are waiting for is released, go get an old Verizon phone from ebay for 10 bucks or so, then bring it to the store and ask Verizon to update your account to point to that equipment. I used to have 3 or 4 old Verizon phones lying around at home a while ago, but I'm afraid I've tossed them into trash by now, otherwise I would have given you one. Check ebay.

Are you waiting for the Audiovox 9900? The CDM 9500 has been out for over a year now, but is hard to find now. Too bad - it is a very good phone.
