pros/cons of the 8900

This question has been asked before I'm sure, but I'm asking again anyway. What are the good and bad of the Audiovox 8900? I'm considering gettting one. I live in Omaha and need the tri-mode, from what I was told, because some places I travel too don't have good reception/towers IE. Northwest Iowa. Also, how does it compare to the LG 6000? I currently have a Motorola T720, but am interested in camera phones. Bottom line is, like everyone else, I don't want dropped calls. Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

I feel as if you and I are in the same boat. I too have the Motorola T720 and looked into the LG 6000. The sales man at my local VZW store advosed that I wait for the Audiovox 8900 to be re-released instead of purchasing the LG 6000. Apparently both phones are very similar however the 8900 has the added feature of speakerphone while the LG 6000 does not.

Well, my purchase is now on hold. And I was ready to go to! My local dealer doesn't have the phone yet, and the guy at the mall kiosk said their price was $149.99 AFTER $70 rebate. He did say it was a really good phone. Much better than my T720. I'm not sure about the $7.99/month to email pictures, though. 😢

You dont necessarily need to purchase the 7.99 plan. I have the 8900, and just pay .25 per picture sent or received. Unless you're going to send and receive more than 32 pics /month it doesn't pay.

Or you could just go with the $4.99 promo. The $7.99 gets you unlimited pix AND txt. You do have the option of paying $4.99 for just unlimited pix. You can also just get unlimited txt like I do for $4.99. You have more options than just the $7.99, s/he's just a rep that wants the commission spiff for selling you a high data package.

No need to worry now, for a few weeks/months. Was told by VZ cust.srvc. that I couldn't get new "equipment" until 02/04 and then the 8900 would be $99.99 after $70 rebate. I plugged in an Arizona zip on the VZ web site and could get the phone for $59.99 Doesn't do me any good here in the midwest. Thanks for the tips anyway.
