Pearl to Verizon?

maxint

May 2, 2007, 1:30 PM
I read on phonearena.com that the Pearl is supposed to come to Verizon on the 7th of May. I have heard nothing else about this. Any truth to the pearl coming to verizon?

Looks like the BB Pearl. but it's going by a different name without the camera. Look in the Phonescoop news. There's pictures of it.

I love the new BlackBerry design. I wouldn't buy one because they can't do everything my Windows Mobile phone can do, but damn they are sexy!!

If I could get 2 other phones they would be a G'zOne type V (for rugged situations) and the LG VX8700 (because it reminds me of the DeLorean)

Then I might consider the 8830.

I talked to a store rep a couple weeks ago and he indicated that the Pearl would be coming to VZW in July. As always, can't verify anything and they often are wrong because the information gets misinterpreted, then skewed, then reported incorrectly.. But if its happening in July, thats ok... unless sooner :-)

Party on fools!

Manufacturers do make CDMA versions of GSM phones on occasion, and vice versa, such as the underplayed Moto RAZR. 🙄 It's usually not the same exact model number, they add or change a letter to the number at the end, but it's been done.

The article expressly referred to Verizon introducing the Pearl in Q2. Yes, it is currently only a GSM phone, but many GSMs eventually become CDMA... including the Pearl.

ok here is something you dont know about global phones for verizon then, they acually have sim cards, which run on a gsm network, so the global phones are not on a cdma network

they only operate on sim cards overseas. The fact that you claim to be a verizon tech scares the crap out of me. Please tell me that you don't work in new jersey or i'm cancelling service right now.

ABLINDKID or HEKNOWS, which ever you may go by. First off, you don't know GSM from CDMA. International phones work internationally. In most cases you'll have international quad band phones: TDMA, CDMA, CDMA(roam), and GSM. You are very entertaining. You seem you amuse a lot of people here with your little to know on the wireless industry, AND THEN CLAIM TO BE A TECH. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤣

Here's something YOU DON'T KNOW. The international phone that you're referring too (doesn't matter which VZW phone your talking about), the SIM will not read to American GSM networks. 🤣

The "pearl" people thought was coming was probably just people seeing the 8830

As for waiting for VZ to get their act together, what part of verizon communication's act are you waiting for?

Oh, you ment VZW not VZ..

Not sure why having a phone popular with other carriers would mean anything, VZW wants phones that are popular with customers, not other carriers.

the "consumer friendly" email plans are the wireless sync from get it now, which works on many phones. Blackberries are business tools, they arent really targets at the general consumer. Complaining about the cost would rank up there with complaining to Mack that they dont have consumer friendly prices on their trucks...

If a phone is popular with other carriers...then it will prolly be popular with VZW. Thats why that means something.

You think people that have vzw don't want the pearl??? Yeah right.

Ok, Mack was a poor example as I doubt normal consumers would have a daily or even weekly use for a large truck.. It was just the first thing that came to my mind ;)

I never said I thought there wernt VZW customers that wanted the pearl, but the primary blackberry users have given feedback that a camera wasnt important or in many cases was not allowed in their work enviroment. Second part is that the full keyboard is a much better seller than a slightly smaller device with the two letters per key.
The really good part of the pearl was the new roller ball control, which was something wanted by customers, and VZW was in works with RIM on a blackberry that had that option for a long time, the 8830.

The 8830 meets the needs of more black...

I guess I wonder if the Pearl is a big deal. Isn't it that goofy '2 letters per key' intuitive typing deal? I guess I'd hate since my typing skills are pretty bad with a full QWERTY in front of me, I wouldn't want to have to deal with the intuitive stuff....

It is the Pearl that has that, correct? If I'm wrong...oops.

Anyway, if it's design styling, it appears this look as the new BB deal so just wait a month or two...
