simple, slim flip phone w/2 displays?

Has anyone heard any rumors about Verizon coming out with new flip phones that focus on basic characteristics like slimness, battery life and reception?

Like many people, I've been frustrated with Verizon's handset selection, but not because I'm looking for complex, fancy features. I'd actually prefer NOT to have a camera or color display, since I'm more interested in good battery life, which tends to be sacrificed for these features.

Basically, I think the LG 3100 is a great phone, and I would get it if it weren't for two fatal flaws: no analog service and no outer display. The Moto v60s sounds OK too, but it's about the thickest flip phone on the market, which makes my left pocket really bummed out.

So, anyone know anything about ...

Consider the Samsung A310 or buying a v60i on eBay.

I agree...

Go with the Samsung A310 or even the 530.

As phones get smaller, manufacturers are trying to "impress" the public with how many features and bells & whisteles can they fit into a smaller phone. Unfortunately, you are right about sacrificing the battery life. Even the vibration mode drains the battery 2-5% faster and the phones with GPS location always ON, drain another 5% faster.

New phones will be coming out in 2004 and they will be slimmer.

I mean, I understand a lot of people focus on the bells & whistles, but the providers don't seem to understand that those people are just one segment of the market -- possibly a minority of the market.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would gladly pay the price of a camera phone for a slim, simple, two-display flip phone that worked well and didn't need to be charged often.

It just doesn't seem like "progress" to me that each generation of new Verizon phones seems to have worse battery life than the one before. It also seems like a sign of the industry's priorities that th...

You're right about the A310 battery life--not good. If you can put up with some of the bells and whistles, the A530 has much better battery life than the A310 but it does not do analog if you need it.
