I think the restriction you speak of is number of songs. Not storage. And Apple has no deal with Verizon (who wants to charge more). So you're right... no iTunes.

If it is in any way like the V3c, thanks but no thanks. I usually do not criticize a phone, menu systems, lack of customization or VZW in general, but, I am really disgusted with the phones. Please don't get me wrong, I still treasure my VZW service, but, as they keep cramming more "crap" (i.e. EVDO, music, cameras. etc.) the battery life gets worse and worse.

For as long as it takes VZW to release a phone to the public, and while I initially defended the Razr, I can honestly say its the worst phone that I have ever had in over 20 years. Since December I have gone through 4 and my son is on his 3rd I believe. The quality is just not there.

I have also experienced these same battery issues with an E815 and V710.

Outside of the lack o...

I truly think Verizons coverage and service is *perceived* to be the best, but it is no longer. Yes, at one point it was, but things change, especially in technology.

Their customer service, frankly, is not that great if you are brutally honest about it. In addition, they are 'spensive and really tightly control what you can and can not do on their "network". Remember, Verizon migrated from AMPS to IS-95 in the same spectrum bandwidth, "800Mhz", it really was never a "true" digital signal. It was a migration path that was executed very well and planned carefully, but technically, not the best.

Deep down inside I think most people are *slowly* realizing that numbers and independent studies do not lie. I hate to admit, as much as anyone...

I couldn't agree with you more on your statement about Verizon in relation to other carriers.

Like you said, look at JD Powers. T-Mobile consitently wins in CS ratings. Cingular has made huge improvements to their network within the past couple months. I used to dread talking to my friends because the call would always get dropped or just cut out and now I hear them perfectly clear. T-mobile has a much better network now and there are tons of places where T-Mobile will have recpetion and VZW will be struggling for a signal and Sprint is slowly getting better despite their horrible CS.

I recently ported to T-Mobile from Verizon and couldn't be happier. I had to call CS and was treated with respect. Something I had not received from VZW ...

I say look at Consumer Reports and The Wall Street Journal and all of the other independent sources that still say VZW is the best service provider in the country.

Oh yeah BTW T-Mobile and VZW regulary trade off #1 and #2 in JD Powers.

Not past what I already said, I won't "bash" VZW, but, here is the big issue. Many of us have watched a good chunk of our friends and family switch to VZW. Switching to Cingular, tMobile or anyone else would be a HUGE challenege as we would lose the "in" calling benefits.

IMO, as a marketing guy, *IF* Cingular is really that good, and is really ready to grab market share, they need to offer current VZW customers tremendous incentive to switch.

For all I know Cingular may be a great option, though some people in my particular area may disagree, but, there has to be significant incentive to make the switch.

I am really hesitant to jump into this as I have no factual information as to why the FBI chose VZW, or any other carrier. So disclaimer aside-

While its true we have Federal Government that pays $600 for toilet seats, as someone who completes Fed Gov't bid packages for my company, in my experience, among other reasons, they select; 1) low cost bids 2) minority and/or small businesses

I am not saying that they chose VZW because they gave them the least expensive contract, but, I would not be surprised.

I am a little disappointed with the posistion of the memory slot. as small as the microSD/Transflash card is you would thisn they could make it able to squeeze in somewhere externally.

In case you don't know. The card slot is to the side of the battery. You have to remove the battery to expose it. At least that is what the "Manual in Motion" shows.
