Any hints regarding getting "Verizon Wireless" off the main screen of th LG 6000? Thanks in advance.

True, it is your roaming indicator. There are two types of software-- one with the ERI (roaming indicator) and one without. Just take it to a local VZW store and have a tech flash it with the non-ERI software. Of course, they'll warn you that you won't accurately know when you're roaming or not. It's your choice.
