So...I'm reading that article on Yahoo about Android bots and in the comments was some guy who mentions he gets spam from his own email address and I think wtf so do I occasionally. All my computers and tablets have AV installed and run routinely but my phone doesn't so I assume I've got some kind of infection. Any advice on what to use/do about this? Appreciate any advice.
Thanks-JT

Most email-based issues originate with the email provider itself, not your cellphone carrier or your home ISP. If you're getting spam from your own email address (your words) then you might check the provider. That said, on the issue of your phone getting an infection theoretically it is possible, so you might consider adding protection. "Lookout" is very popular, as are others. Most times when you get virus like emails from your email address or someone you know it's not you or the person it looks like the email came from. It's probably someone else you both have in common who is infected and their computer is sending the virus out making it look like its from other people that you also know, or you yourself.

Thanks guys for the quick reply; after I posted this I read a pretty good response on the Yahoo posting where someone mentioned about a (probably) foreign site spoofing my address which made a lot of sense as this only happens every few months, they suggested I check the full header which I will do if/when it happens again (no, I never open it). As for apps I'm very careful about what I download and only have a few anyay, all from the app store. Forgot to mention I'm still using the DINC1, really looking forward to this fall, hoping for some Big Love, getting a bit tired of the 3.7" screen, hoping to see the Journal out soon as well as some variant of the X before the holiday season. Some big Win8 phones would be cool too.
