Verizon's new pricing plans

I have an unlimited data plan on my BlackBerry. When I upgrade, if I don't want one of Verizon's "share everything" plans, is there any individual plan still available that is priced based upon the amount of data used?I don't see such a plan on Verizon's website. I understand that in theory I can keep my unlimited data plan if I forgo a discounted new phone, but this makes no sense for me.

I also note from Verizon's website that they have an unlimited prepaid talk, text and web plan for $50 per month. Something must be missing from this plan or else why wouldn't people want it over the "share everything" plan?

Verizon's website is as clear as mud.

The $50 plan is prepaid and not for smartphones. There is a smartphone plan for $80 but it's only 1GB of data.

You can keep your same plan and just have the $30 data plan with 2GB of data.

For new customers there only option is Share Everything is some form or another.

Poor saps. Imagine how Verizon is going to have them believing they actually have good plans.

The problem is you can't see the individual plans w/o going through the trouble of picking a phone now to get the plans section.

Bad move they'd be wise to clean that up and not irritate potential customers.

It is quite possible to browse the plans by themselves. I did.

Also, this will show the monthly price for between 1 and 10 lines.

Yesterday, you could have changed to a single line and be good. Today, not so much.

Here's the thing about the new plans that hasn't been very well covered - this is for accounts needing between one and ten lines. In other words, for a single line, you pick your data bucket and add $40 for a smartphone. Simple. Problem is, you end up paying more in some cases. Let's say you were a single line at 450 minutes with unlimited text and a $30 data plan. If you've had the plan a while, you had unlimited, otherwise you had at least 2GB. Before tax, that was $90 a month.

Now, if you were to mimic the 2GB plan with the new set up, you pay $40 for the smartphone line and then $60 for 2GB of data. That's $100 a month.

Verizon would rath...

Since I never had a text plan, the disparity appears to be even worse. I now pay $70 per month for unlimited data and 450 minutes of talk time. If an individual plan now costs $100 for 2GB of data, the disparity is $30 per month, which is considerable. Does this new plan include unlimited talk time and unlimited data, neither of which i need?

Thanks.

The new plan would have unlimited voice calling and unlimited messaging (text, pictures). Data such as email and web would not.

If you are still in your past capacity then I assume you know more then I do... but he seems to be asking if he can upgrade, move to a 2GB plan and not go share plan. He should beable to if he was already on a nationwide plan. Moves between nationwide plans seem to be allowed.

If he's on a Nationwide plan he can upgrade with a discount and accept the $30 plan for 2GB in place of his older unlimited one. I thought he was trying to move his line to a single line to avoid losing Unlimited when the family share is forced over (which it wouldn't necessarily have to do anyway).

This shows how difficult it is to get all the facts out succinctly. I am actually on the older America's Choice plan and have a single line. Can I also change to the $30 plan for 2GB in place of my existing unlimited plan? If I do, do I retain the 450 minutes of talk time with no texting plan, or does it go to the unlimited talk and texting plan? If I cannot make this change because it's not available for those still on America's Choice, then what is my option?

Thanks.

The feature for the data plan will add to America's choice plans. I did this once already. If you ever change your voice plan you will have to move to share everything.

I take it then that since I would stay on America's Choice that the plan remains a 450 minute, no texting plan, correct?
