If Verizon was smart...they would just stop carrying Blackberry. Blackberry has become the new Palm. No one buys it unless they work in the medical field or are on a BES server. They are just way behind the 8 ball in technology now.

That's absolutely nuts. Blackberry has the highest profit margin of any smartphone platform out there BECAUSE they use the off-handset servers to manage the data traffic.

Far, far fewer bits have to be transmitted to a Blackberry to deliver exactly the same content you could get on an iPhone or Android, yet they bill the same $29.99 for an unlimited data pack.

The problem is that there's too much content out there that Blackberries can't load in real-ti...

What are you running dos on your computer or windows 7? Get out of the stone ages. Get yourself an android and sell your pearl flip on ebay...if your lucky, you might get $10 for it.

Have you tried selling a vortex? They make a heck of a lot more money, less returns than a blackberry because the internet isn't as slow as dial up like blackberry. Plus, look at how long it took for Verizon to sell out of the Tour. It isn't such a great deal for Verizon if it takes nearly 2 years to sell out of the product because their is no demand for it. It's like the Palm pre's where they had to give away the hotspot feature to sell the phones and then they were POS's.

The Blackberry Curve 2's sucked! We had multiple people come in where the phone j...

I gave up my Blackberry Storm for an Android a long time ago. I'll probably never go back. I'm green robot all the way, personally. That being said,

Nothing beats the BIS.

Nothing.

I'm not ignoring the economic realities, as you appear to be. What the customer's want is not the only thing that matters in the executive board room. RIM is a huge cash cow for the carriers because of all the data compression that happens off-handset on the Blackberry servers.

Watching a video in the youtube app on a Blackberry consumes way fewer data bits than watching the same video in the youtube app on the Vortex.

The quality of the experience is degraded on Blackberry. They have to buffer a bit longer to pla...

So you would have Verizon give up the business segment based on a cool factor? Government employees and business employees should be shown the path to AT&T?

Please. No one is going to surrender their market share of Crackberry based on your opinion. The people who do need Blackberries have money.

If Verizon stopped carrying Blackberry devices they'd lose me as a customer. I don't use it for any direct market reason, and I'm not on a BES (anymore). I use it because it works for me. It lets me do what I want in the way I want with the ease I want that I feel other smartphones can't do as well, if at all.

I really think the only way Verizon would ACTUALLY stop carrying Blackberry would be if RIM no longer exists, which is very doubtful. The company lived quite well before the likes of the Storm and competition from Apple and Google. They may not be the flashiest of the bunch, but they'll be there none the less.
