Ive been thinking, it is a rarity but it happens from time to time. This new 200mb plan from AT&T for smart phones is a joke. I think we all knew that though. What will be interesting is to see how many reps sell their customers into this plan with smart phones. I believe the pricing will bring a ton of smart phone sales. The problem with this I see is with proration over billing cycles. Lets say your a new cux, you purchase a smart phone on that $15 plan (i would completly disagree with it as i use over 3gig a month on my devour, my aunt uses 5 gig on her tour just streaming Pandora and other radio stations at work), lets say your mid cycle, so you have 15 days left in the bill which = 100mb. The first days as a smartphone user are extremel...

As long as it lasts. I still have 13 days left in my billing cycle and I've already used nearly 2.5gigs. So screw both those MEASLY plans, the 200mb's and 2gb's, they are both useless.

I swear when Vzn launches LTE, the low plans better start off with at least 10GB's, cause with 8-12mbps people are gonna be watching Hulu & Netflix, these companies don't understand, speed enables video and video adds up fast with data.

I am very thankful as well. I have a Tour and use at least 3 gigs a month of data. It got even worse when I had an Eris, I would use at least 4 gigs or 5 gigs a month. I am happy that Verizon has not done this yet(we all know it will happen sometime). On the other hand, I can see where they are coming from. They are trying to force people to use Wifi as much as possible to take some of the load off their sucky network. I know better than anyone what a luxury it is to stream netflix or hulu while I am on the go, but I do realize it is not a necessity. Just imagine if everyone just started doing that all the time. No matter what network you were on, it would overload and start bumping people off the towers, just like At&T's towers do whenever ...

EVDO (data)
1X (voice)

If everyone started using data at the same time then yes everyone would experience data issues...not voice.

Well they could make it that during upgrades or new services you get the full amount of Megabytes during the prorated period.

I know VZW gives you all of your minutes when you setup your new account no matter how many proration days you have... not on upgrades/pplan changes though, just on new activations since those customers have no say so in when their BC starts.

Oh, and I agree....

2 GB is not enough for the demand being put on smartphones nowadays.

Especially with things like podcasts, streaming radio, apps like Newsy and tv.com. It all adds up, and fast. I still have 13 days left in my billing cycle and I've used 2.5gigs.

Like it or not...if they choose AT&T...they will have to deal with it. I think the iphone has that much influence.

Verizon gives new customers the a full months worth of minutes, data etc in their prorated month. How do you know AT&T does not do the same?
