Ever notice how everyone seems to have an iphone app? Maybe if there were more apps for Blackberries I wouldn't be so anxious to find another device....

the coolest thing about the iphone is that fact that its appstore is massive, the ability to have a constantly changing device long after its original purchase is amazing... that being said, why is it that only android seems to get that? bb has an appworld which blows, and the pre dosent have jack... idk

Because iPhone and Android were built from the ground up around that very capability. Blackberry and Windows Mobile were not, AND they have a lot more history (some of it baggage). Sometimes, it's harder for a company to abandon a tried and true format and truly step outside the comfort zone.

What kind of vague excuse is that for them not to be able to offer apps?

My comments were not intended to be vague.

Pocket PC was built to give the user a "desktop" experience without having to add additional software for email, internet, MS Office files, and personal information management. While installing "applications" was always a bonus to the Pocket PC / Windows Mobile line, it was nowhere near the main focus of the product.

Blackberry software was built on simplicity and security. The Blackberry OS was, by far, the least application-capable of operating systems. The phone originally had next to no memory, no memory card slot, and no application loader (computer sync). You could load a couple basic applications on the phone and max out it's available memory. Paired with it's integration of high-l...

Its a matter of time. The majority of functional apps are available on most platforms. There are an insane amount of useless, bordering on the ridiculous, entertainment apps for the iphone. So if you are really just lusting for a t-pain app or a zippo lighter app you'll just have to get an iphone.

I always want to know though, what are the apps you think would make your blackberry experience a better one that are available on iphones?

Why don't you buy vlingo? Its 14.99 for blackberry and gives you voice control over numerous operations including voice to text dictation...

"Dragon Dictation is free for a limited time, and Nuance will in the near future be releasing Dragon Search, a second iPhone application allowing users to conduct voice searches of a number of sources including search engines, YouTube, Twitter, iTunes, and Wikipedia."

Yeah. Everyone has an iphone app. ESPN, my bank, they advertise them like they are web addresses or 800 numbers. It's pretty disgusting actually.

There are alot of useless apps for the iPhone, and I think a lot of people out there hear the term iPhone and think toy.

I have an iPhone and work in the IT field and have a lot of very useful apps that work great. I am able to VPN into my network, launch a remote desktop session, open up Active Directory and reset users passwords, or un lock a users account and being able to do that just like I would do it on a PC. I am able to reboot workstations and servers very easy. Getting my email on it works great and yes making phone calls works great too.

To each his own or her own, for me in my field this phone works great.

I am not bashing providers or claiming one network is better than another. Just simply stating that while there ar...
