Does anyone know...
What the Alltel conversion schedule is looking like? Any idea when the Kansas market is going to be Verizon? I'm really wanting a new phone, and do not like Alltel's selection.

You and I are in the same boat, jarmstrong. I, too, am eligible to upgrade, and the phone I want isn't offered by Alltel, either. Verizon has it, though, so I'm chompin' at the bit. I checked with Alltel Customer Service this morning to see if I could get any info from them...nada. Then, I stopped by an Alltel corporate location here in Charlottesville to see if they had any info. I was informed that the wireless reps haven't even been trained on Verizon information yet, nor do they know (at least, this is what I was told) when they will be.
If your number is eligible now to be ported over to Verizon, you can go ahead and sign up with Verizon without an ETF or an activation fee from Verizon, as I understand it. You will have to go...

Verizon is allowing you to sign up with them even if its not a Verizon market at this point.
For example, Tupleo, MS is an area with Alltel and no Verizon. Verizon is allowing you to port or recieve a new number from them even though its still an Alltel market.
So, if you wish to move over to Verizon, you may. Also, to avoid ETFs make sure your contract IS up OR you have 3 months or less on your Alltel contract. So as for yall, yall can go ahead and switch to a Verizon phone and plan if you wish.

From what I understand Verizon has six months from the date they purchased Alltel to have everything transitioned. So by June 9th you should be all switched.
