When will Alltel

Cellphonejocky

When will Alltel access Verizons network before Sprints? Right now, if an Alltel customer leaves there calling area and goes into an area with both Sprint and Verizon, it will pick up on Sprint. When will it pick up on Verizon?

It may be until they get Alltels network over to Verizons, but if anyone knew anything, that would be great. My Uncle was wanting to know because he HATES roaming on Sprints network.

That maybe a tough question to get a definite answer to. To my understanding, it may depend on the roaming agreements that VZW will have with Sprint and Alltel. Especially now, if you are in area that was Alltel and taken over by VZW..hopefully you will get a definite answer. Good luck.

This is very interesting to me. I currently have Alltel out of Charlottesville, VA, as I'm mentioned in this forum on several occasions. On a recent trip to Washington, DC, I needed to take a phone call in the Metro subway system. Now, the ONLY service that works IN THE TUBES in the system is Verizon, and I know Verizon AND Sprint have service in that market. If my Alltel phone only roams on Sprint, theoretically, I should not have been able to pick up a signal in the subway, right? All I know is, it worked like a champ!

If Sprint is not present, then alltel will pick up on Verizon. But what Im asking is when will it go straight to Verizon and skip Sprint.

Your phone was useing Verizon. Because Sprint was not present, it went to Verizons network. But, when my Uncle comes to see our family here in Alabama, it roams off Sprint, which sucks. There is a Verizon tower right behind my house. AT&T and T-Mobile don't work, and Sprint picks ups 1 bar to 0 bars.

I just want to know when Alltel will go straight to a Verizon tower and not a Sprint tower.

Alltel's roaming agreements use Sprint towers first. Which unfortunately could mean if there is a Sprint tower 4 miles away and a Verizon tower 1 mile away it will still pull the Sprint one first.
