Any good new phones coming out for VZW?

I'm a V60 user and my phone is acting up. I'm also sick of the antenna breaking. I'm at the point in my contract where I can get a new phone cheaply. Looking at the new phones, they all have bells and whistles that just don't do it for me. Plus, most of the new phones seem to be made of very low quality plastics and seem very fragile. The battery life on these new phones seems to be on the low side as well. Are they any new phones on the horizon for VZW? The only feature I'd probably be interested in is bluetooth. I'm seriously considering the current Nokia offering just so I can get some better battery life. Is there a v600 variant coming out for VZW?

I am in the same situation. I have broke the 4th antenna off of my StartTac 7868. I am due for a new phone - returned the 8900 after 2 days. Did not like it at all. I wish they would release the Moto v810 !!!!

I'm in the same boat. If Verizon had a basic phone with solid build quality and Bluetooth, I would buy it. I'm not interested in camera phones, MIDI ringtones, color LCD panels or other gizmos.

Verizon, get your s**t together with Bluetooth! I wonder how long it will take Verizon to realize that they could sell a lot more network bandwidth if they had Bluetooth. Lots of people use Starbucks, etc WiFi Hot Spots and not their Verizon cell phones for Internet access. Guess why! Who do Verizon have as the chief marketing guy, anyway? A 15 year old? Leave the cameras and MIDI rings to kids and give us a solid basic phone with Bluetooth!

P.S. alexaqui, my advice to you is to go to verizon web site, click on "contac...

Why are you equating a Hot Spot and Bluetooth? Unless the phone is WiFi and Bluetooth enabled your argument is invalid. The technologies work independent of one another.

Yes, what I was trying to say is that many notebook computers these day come with Bluetooth built-in. So if Verizon phones supported Bluetooth, that would have made Verizon Express Network more attractive to users who have Bluetooth-enabled notebooks. I agree that WiFi is a independent technology, but I think verizon could steer some of the WiFi users away from WiFi to Verizon Express Network if Verizon had Bluetooth phones. That's what I was trying to say in my message. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

You do not need the bluetooth though when you have two other options. Buy a data connectivity kit to allow you to use your phone as a modem or purchase an AirCard and you can still send and receive calls with your phone while you are on your laptop with your AirCard and both of these options allow you to not have to be in the "Hot Spot" to connect to the Internet. Also if all you are doing is checking your e-mail you can do that via your phone with mobile web. I think blue tooth is overrated. It has huge potential, but right now it is just not all that useful.

Another reason why many people (including myself) want Bluetooth is because of all of those new cars that have factory Bluetooth hands-free phone support. I'm talking about Acura TL, Toyota Prius, Jeep and new Chrysler cars. I have an Acura TL and I recently switched from Verizon to T-Mobile BECAUSE of the lack of support for Bluetooth by Verizon.

Let me tell you, bluetooth rock! No wires, no headsets. Gee, the phone may even be in my briefcase in the trunk and I can still receive and answer calls by clicking a button on the steering wheel while driving.

That, plus Bluetooth support for wireless data access makes the technology so attractive to me.

As soon as I bought a Bluetooth phone, I got
1) Seamless integration with my car's a...

I agree. Bluetooth for automobiles is the way to go. More and more cars are coming out with kits to integrate it. (Add BMW to the list as well).

It seems like VZW is focusing more on the ringtones/games silliness than offering phones that work well. All of their current flip phones appear to be very flimsy and made of low quality plastic. (Not like my original v60c). Add to that a high cost for relatively useless features (voice dialing on the lg 4500 is a joke, picture taking ability), and horrible battery life, and it becomes clear there are no good current choices.

Even the non-flip phones are sub-par as they all tend to be on the larger side.

I bought a Siemens non-flip phone 4 years ago. I still have it active for when any...

Why do you think that the LG 4500's voice dialing is a joke??? I have used the phone that feature is great. The key here is safety while driving, that along with a headset will make the roads much less dangerous.

I to have an new Acura TL and want a new bluetooth cell phone. I have been with Verizon and former compaines since 1987 and have always had good service. However I am now considering switching. I've looked at AT&T, Cingular (now they are one) and T-Mobile.
Have heard that in my area Cleveland, OH that T-Mobile isn't "that good."

Since I've always had a CDMA phone, I am leery to switch to GSM. I make calls around the country and have heard that the coverage with GSM isn't that good.
Would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

If your patience can hold out look for the Motorola V710. I am not familiar with your region, however if you are happy with VZW service I would not look for a problem unless you are sure of the carrier you may be switching to.

That Motorola V710 may take forever to arrive, however. If you're going to make a foray into GSM service I recommend Tmobile. Of the three major providers offering GSM service in the USA, Tmobile is by far the most stable...and their metro area service is outstanding. They've really made a leap up in quality of network service.

Well, besides paying too much for a Honda (HE HE), you had probably stick with CDMA. While Bluetooth is cool to use wirelessly, what phone is wirless connectivity in your car when you can't get a signal on you freggin phone (GSM).

if you are looking for a good phone, go for the 6000. i use almost 2000 min a month and over 1500 text messages and i charge my battery every 2 days normally. its reception is the best for what verizon carries, and its not a shock to me that you didnt like the 8900, its not that good of a phone.
