The New ATnT Wireless

Hello Verizon forum! I just ordered my Verizon Wireless phone TODAY! I am so excited! I guess I need to change my phonescoop account name now...

Yay! I am so excited. I got a great phone too, and I can't wait to actually have a phone that has consistent coverage!

I am happy that you are joining Verizon. Which phone did you order? I have a LG Voyager and many people mistake it for the Apple Iphone, Hee, hee !! I just politely correct them and show them the full size keyboard when I open up the phone and there is an "Ahhhh !!?!!?!? Hey that's cool, man."

I love my phone, and when my wife is ready to upgrade in a few weeks she may also go for the Voyager.

My 4 yr old daughter likes the fact that her Spongebob videos are always a few clicks away and she amazes her friends at dinners that we goto.

I ordered the PN 820 smartphone, it is a clamshell with an extendable antenna. The phone is being discontinued, so I decided to jump on it's low price now before it's too late.

It is worth paying AT&T the ETF! And I am on month-to-month with Verizon, so no more contracts!!!

I got the PN 820 after a lot of research. I like having an external antenna phone, they usually get better reception, and this one has an extendable antenna too!

lol...nah, I wouldn't say that I "live for it", but I do enjoy posting here more so than some other sites I read (crackberry, bgr, engadget).

Plus, once I started using Blackberries, I get an email when a post is answers, So I am to respond pretty quickly.

Phonescoop has been a great resource for me, and I feel like now that I know a lot more than I did a few years ago, maybe I can be a resource to someone else.

PN 820, and I switched for coverage and call clarity. AT&T is supposed to have excellent coverage, but GSM signal is very "bouncy" and it always cuts out. I used to have T-Mobile and they were worse.

VZW is definitely a more consistent service. That consistency comes with a small price. Be prepared to charge your battery more often than you did with at&t. Of course if you've already switched from GSM to HSPA, you've already experienced this and you're good to go.

I think you'll find it's a small sacrifice for getting a smooth phone call.

BTW, don't go overboard and charge your battery every night. You'll need a new battery after a year or so if you do that! Hope this all helps!

Thanks! I am a light talker and a light texter with the occasional internet usage, and I know the best way to keep your battery healthy is to let it get very low before recharging.

I had a RAZR wit...

Are you using a data plan with your PN-820? If not, you could get a bit more juice out of it by turning off EV-DO

I am only going to do texting, and for the first month I will get internet so I can download graphics and ringers, but after that, I'll keep the EV-DO off.

Glad I'm not the only one to love that retractable antenna. I will not buy a phone that doesn't have one..anyways welcome to verizon. Not to be a jerk but make sure you really test out that PN-820 because that phone is a total pos and a poor choice in imho. good luck

What don't you like about it? Everyone said the RAZR is a pos too, but I think it is ok. I read a lot of review of the PN 820 and I know what to expect. when it comes to high end stuff, I am not too picky, as long as it gets great reception and is a solid phone to use, that's all.

I'll definitely play with the windows, but again it is 5.0 not 6.0 so I am not expecting a lot. As long as the phone itself is not slow when I am in the menu function. the RAZR has a buggy problem, especially when you have stuff downloaded to the phone.

the PN looks very cool, and I did get a leather case for it to protect it. :-)
