So we all know that the Iphone hurt verizon. Will the. Iphone 3G take even more customers to ATT.
...
Depends. Android phones are going to start being released around the same time as the iPhone 2. It's hard to say what will be available for Android when it's released, but Android definitely has the potential to kill the iPhone craze. It's entirely possible that the iPhone 2 will come out and be forgotten a few months later. Will it hurt Verizon? I'd say it's too early to tell. Ask me again in January.
...
android will not be out around the same time. I phone 2 should be out by the end of June, I really don't think we will see an android handset till late Q3 or early Q4. I think android will put in a huge wrinkle in the industry, but only time will tell.
...
Android is going to be awesome or suck. I don't think it's going to suck, but it might.
I thought we were going to see our first Android phone around August or so.
...
There's not an official timetable for android, but I dont expect to see a device till later this year.
...
You might be right. I know T-Mobile is going to have a few Android devices by the end of the year. I assume that one will be launched to help support its 3G network once it goes nationwide...which would be around August or so.
...
What is an android??? I guess i've fallen off the wagon... sorry guys!
...
Android is google's mobile operating system that is set to be released in the fall.
...
I think they'll get some customers, but not a lot. I can see a majority of the users that will buy it current iPhone users just upgrading.
...
The Blackberry Thunder will keep many Verizon customers and bring over more from other carriers. Then there's the LG Dare,Voyager 2 and another touchscreen phone coming.
...
Voyager 2? where have you heard about that?
And the thunder will be cool, but they need to start getting info out for it, so that people will stick around and wait for it.
...
yea VZW does tend to suck at giving out info about upcoming phones to keep customers waiting and wanting. its not like the phones are a complete secret, but vzw seems to want you to think that. sure we know about them, but thats cuz we work in the industry to research stuff like that. the typical custy doesnt and they are the ones that need to know whats on hte horizon

Mmm... touchscreen Blackberry. Daddy likes. 😎
And it's a VZW exclusive, so ATT will likely lose some customers to it. Hey, turnabout's fair play. 😉

could the Thunder maybe make you finally switch away from a basic clam 😲
...
Come on man get it together. I thought u knew a little about the wireless industry

It's probably the #1 phone that could. The Curve's been temptin' me, though. 😎
I may not have a choice in the end... my next job may require having a BB.
AvgJoe/BB2709, at least, doesn't have to worry 'bout stuff like that... all he has to do is remember to say, "would you like fries with that?". 😁
...
gunnyMay 30, 2008, 2:48 PM
Cool yeah I'm really enjoying my Curve. It's my first Blackberry I really like it. I didn't know if I would get sucked into the crackberry addiction, but damn I just don't want a regular phone anymore.
It will be very interesting to see the browser on the Thunder. Well cool cool 🙂
...
RIM products have always had their own customer base, regardless of the carrier. Their customers/clients are willing to jump ship between carriers just to get a hold of RIM's products.

This kid is staying with verizon.
...
We can all hope that it hurts VZW just enough that they have to fire your slack A$$. 🤣 That is, if you really work there! 😳
The IPhone will always appeal to certain people. If you go to the ATT forum, they have people who want the Voyager, but can't have it on GSM. With 67 million customers, how back could it really hurt VZW? Most users don't want to or can't spend that kind of money.
...
U know and I know the Iphone 3 will be out before blackberry touch screen. Verizon might have 67 million customers but they are losing more the ATT. Verizon needs to get these phones out faster

Huh?
Who are we losing?
...
How is 0.93% more than 1.2%?
...
u just don't get it. Verizon is losing customers everyday. U use the curve. It shows how much u know about phones. HA HA HA AH HA 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 :
...
You got actual numbers to back this up BB2709? Any forecasting models or regressional analysis? Last time I ran numbers through SPSS, VZW's marginal growth is greater than AT&T.
...
TRUE... But the numbers are getting smaller. My store is allot slower than it use to be. I'm in the busiest store in central, oh
...
Maybe YOU are running off the customers!
...
no its a hustle. U can sell them a piece of shiz voyager. I make so much off dumb ass people that know nothing. I love selling a old women a palm or some bull shiz touch phone. its great
...
You got any figures that the growth gap is closing my friend?
...
just what the mangers are saying at the store. they say we need to push it more. Maybe is the economy or the new att store
...
It's probably the economy and market saturation.
...
I really don't think so. People walk in to the store and see the phones we have and then they walk out and go into ATT.
...
Then why don't you go work for AT&T? And really, you think AT&T's phones are that much better? Give me some examples here...
...
Don't try using logic with this clown, he's san idiot!
...

"losing more the ATT" what the hell does that mean?
"Verizon needs to get the phones out faster?"
Without testing? The extensive testing takes time! Can you hear me now!
...
The iphone did not truly hurt Verizon. VZW beat ATT in postpay adds despite the launch of the iphone (the iphone is ONLY available to postpay customers). The only way ATT has beaten VZW in any quarter is on the strength of its prepay. VZW has more postpay (contract) customers than ATT does, despite ATT having the most total customers.
...
Ummm....I work in web chat for VZW. While I am not really a fan of VZW I do enjoy working for them. My point for this post is, why do all respond to this guy. From what I have seen his statements are useless and he can never provide any hard information to back up what he says.
...
cause they know I'm right. come on Pryde2899 get it together. You talked on the web to people. Sounds hard
...
Point in case, he is goading me into responding to him, which I am ashamed to say I am. No it is not a hard job, however, it is enjoyable. Thanx for your time BB however, your not worth any more effort on this. Later.
...
you find it enjoyable ... seriously?
...
Yes, I do. Mainly because of the people I work with. And it's not everyday you can find a job where you chat all day and try to sell phones and accessories and make decent pay.
...
Do you even go into a office? Is that job where they advertise on the side of the road?
...
ya know what @sscheese... don't EVER knock anyone for a job. I'm sure the man does it well and he enjoys it, so don't be a complete @hole about something like that. Get the hell out of the forum already... You are truely a waste of space.
And the iphone won't make any damn difference.. .its just a phone.. no one cares!
...
what kind of money you make? are your quota's high??
...
I really don't think that there was a lot of people that held out on getting the iPhone because of it's lack of 3G. Meaning that there won't be a lot of people bolting because the phone finally has 3G.
So the people that will pick up the iPhone 2 will probably most likely be from their own customer pool-- upgrades, etc.
I don't see it doing any much harm, if any. There are still a ton of people that prefer hard buttons vs. a virtual keypad...
...
Actually ... the 3g iPhone may be a factor for me to switch from VZW to AT&T. If my company had the same 20% discount for AT&t that's offered to VZW ... then I'd probably do it.
Seriously ... the touchscreen navigation is awesome. I hope Android or the Blackberry Thunder is comprable to it.
...
The iphone was one of the best things that ever happened to Verizon. We lost a few customers, but most of the impact was on Sprint and Tmobile. More importantly, even though Apple released a half-baked product, it was competitive enough to get the other manufacturers off their thumbs and on to thinking about how to improve the interface/design of their phones.
Verizon didn't lose, baby.
...
I totally agree! The iphone was great for all carriers. It pushed the boundaries of cell engineering and forced companies to produce more innovative products. Thats the legacy the iphone will leave.
...
No. Most people already left for the iphone if they wanted it. Some came back. Most of the people that will buy that phone have the 2.5 generation i phone.
VZW will win back some of those customers when the touch screen blackberry is released. When it comes to PDAs and multimedia devices, Blackberry is still champ.
...
I think that it could. Maybe not much, but it could. I do think one reason some people didn't jump onto the iPhone boat was it's lack of 3G and other features. Now that 3G is being added and possibly other features, it could draw more customers away from other carriers. I am one of those people. I'm waiting for the 3G iPhone to be released because I know 3G is very similar in voice quality and data speed as CDMA and EV-DO.
...
I don't think many people will leave VZW for the iPhone2 (those people have already left to get Version 1.0), though it will be a nice draw for luring in dis-affected Sprint and T-mobile subscribers who might otherwise go VZW.
I also think that way too many people are under-estimating the Dare LG9700. From what I've gathered so far, the only real difference between the Dare and the new iPhone will be a removable memory and the patented multi-touch screen interface. Also, widgets likely won't be as available for the Dare as the will be on the new iPhone.
Dare is going to be way, WAY bigger then the Voyager was, but nothing will ever compare to the fervor and mayhem that accompanied the original iPhone.

Or the second iPhone. Watch and learn. Verizon advertises to the choir with their "featured" phones. Apple advertises to the masses and creates a market where there is none.
The household names were all GSM phones. RaZR, Iphone, Curve etc. There is no native Verizon phone that people are aware of who do not use Verizon.
Thats why Every time an iphone is released. customer leave carriers for it. They have in the past and will again. People chase hype.
Of course no one knows that more then a Verizon customer.

I gotta believe the iPhone exodus like last summer will NOT repeat. Just like there is no iPod exodus to the Touch.
...
I think your the only person on phone scoop that gets it. I will listen to you all day. I haven't seen you on phone scoop before. Just thank you
...
That's because Im not not drinking the Kool Aid of ANY Carrier. I buy my phones unbranded and unlocked and just pay for the best value in service. I do not sign contracts without a far better incentive than a cheap slightly discounted toy phone made by some drugstore brand like Audiovox.
Those who do drink gallons of Red cannot even fathom the benefit of a concept called Roll Over. They spew their corporate line at it. In fact they have corporate speak for every advantage GSM offers. They have too, It's their job,
But I don't really think many believe Verizon is all that much better in all places than their competition. In the South EAST Alltel is the king of CDMA brands.
...
thank you AvgJoe. All these people on phone scoop must be corporate. Wonder how many years verizon will survive.
