GPS Option on Newer Phones
Can anyone tell me what the GPS option will do for me when it is always on? I understand the value for 911 situation (like finding my car burried in a snow drift) but what will it do for me if i always have it on?

The potential application is something called Location Based Services (LBS). Basically, the idea is Mobile Web sites that are aware of your location.
Even when you have your phone set to Location On, your phone would still ask permission before sending your location to the site (although you could ask it to "remember" your preference so it would not ask again for that site).
But you could use it for things like finding the nearest movie theater, hotel, gas station, Chinese restaurant, etc., without entering a zip code or address. Pretty handy stuff, if carriers would get off their butts and launch it already... 😡
