I am not knocking verizon they are great but so are the others in areas too. There is no clear number one as some will lead you to believe.

Japan is pretty good. I will tell you from first hand experience japan is not that far ahead of us in cell phones. And as far as networks go even closer.

How is the network out there. how do you call into customer service?

I get dropped calls here and there just like the states. But its not bad. The video calling is pretty nice. And the speed in say in toyko is like 3mbs. They have a English speaking customer service dept just like we have Spanish. English is bigger then you think here!

AT&T has spent more but their network performs worse in most areas according to most testing/polling that has been done.

if testing a pooling were right then people would be leaving them in droves. That is not the case. All of the carriers are at a churn of 2.0 or less I believe for the 2nd quarter!

and verizon wireless was at 0.85 retail postpay churn a number that ATT has never even gotten at all close to, so give it a rest.

Dude, you don't know what you're talking about. I live in SC and spring doesn't even have high speed internet access in ANY cities here. They consistently throw phones out on the market without thoroughly testing them which leads to poor reviews. Wimax isn't crap and PCS is NOT the way to go. Verizon is currently preparing for FiOS, which utilizes the Fiber Optic network similar to the options provided for EV-DO cell sites and will easily dominate the wireless high speed market. Prices aren't bad at all.

DUDE fios has nothign to do with wireless. Its all landline. Why you ask most towers are fiber already. However fiber is not going to get the data to your handset. And wimax has more speed then any wireless technoligy out there!

ATT's claim can not be proven... anyone can pay an independent researcher to give them what they paid for.

Altell backhandedly slaps all the other carriers in every promotion. While we all think it's funny, it is very misleading. Alltel wasn't even rated in a lot of national ratings because their company isn't consider a major player (which is why they are on the market right now).

Verizon's claim is by no means misleading. They have the backing of consumer reports and J.D. power just to name a few.

Cable is not going to run for the hills. Verison is only got Fios in I think 2 states and not everywere its is way expensive. Cable will be going to DCOIS 3.0 here soon. Speeds and capisty online with FIOS. They also have another option. Don't broadcast every channel at once and only do it when you request it. I would love to see cable change as quickly as wireless does. The problem with cable is that technology becomes available and it takes YEARS to migrate to that new technology. How long have we been talking about HD alone? FiOS has a ton of HD channels (just saw the brochure yesterday). The verizon wireless network does not use the FiOS technology. They currently use the ev-do (soon to migrate to ev-dv). What I was suggesting was simply this. Verizon communications has made it very clear that they intend to merge completely and form one unity.
