Come on......8700 Battery life sucks.....U540 Sucks too
Whats up with the battery life on these phones. Anyone that says the battery life is fine is full of ****! I have talk to two friends that have them and the are terrible. How can Verizon even advertise bs data????? I even purchased the extended battery and its terrible.

If you compare the mah ratings of the batteries on these phones with the mah rating of say the LG VX8300 then you will see why.....

Thats sounds about right.
The thing that people dont understand is that the advertised battery life on these phones is talk time......not usage time.
The battery life is going to vary if your a heavy texter, mobile web user, game player...ect.
My treo last me 2-3 days as well, but if I am having a busy day with email. I have to charge it that night. Just depends on the day.

u540 battery life is usually fine after about a week of letting the battery cycle in. if you have the grey one, you have the old ZL12 software which is a pile of known issues, including abysmal battery life. get to your local vzw store to have the software updated to AB26 and you'll do alot better

I have the 'grey' (seems more like silver to me) u540, and actually it too has the new AB26 software on it.
But, I only got it like ten days ago. 🙂

Do either of these people have their wallpaper set to a picture saved on a memory card? This is an issue on the Chocolate that will drain the battery. It could also affect other phones.

Try reading the specs for the phone and follow the instructions in the user manual how to care for your phone.. aka, there are proper instructions for the battery that most alot of people ignore and then wonder why they have problems..

Did you get the extended battery for the 8700 or the u540 or both? Because I have a u540 with extended battery, and the batt life has been very good so far.
Admittedly I usually have the EVDO turned off (don't have VCast, so I don't really use it), but yesterday I talked 290 minutes and didn't kill the battery! Is nice. 😁
If I had the standard batt, I could see having problems... its a puny little 800 mAh weakling...

The battery life is bad on the 8700. I have 2 phone lines. I have the 8700 on the line that I don't use that much. I love the phone, except for the battery life, and the fact that it gets super hot when you're talking on it, even for a short time.
