not sure which forum this belonged in but i trust you guys ๐Ÿ˜•

so, my Friend has nextel and i have verizon..she wanted to take my razr {regular not maxx} and have it turned on by nextel. i said i didn't know if we could so being in the mall at the time we went to the nextel store and asked . only to have the woman keep questioning us about if it was a sprint razr. i said no and she said then my Friend could not use it on their network....i got the feeling she was not telling me the truth, does anyone know if i gave my Friend my old razr if she could use it on the nextel/sprint network?

thanks ahead for any input.

No, this will not work due to different network and frequencies. Maybe ABLINDKID can figure out a way. lol. ( I'm being sarcastic on ABLINDKID )

sprint should allow her to do it, because it runs on a cdma network, both verizon and sprint have cdma, she cant do it with nextel beacuse its a GSM network that requires a sim card so the answer is yes she can activate it on the sprint network

Do you actually work for Verizon? You can't activate a vzw razr on Sprint because vzw uses brew while sprint uses java.

Also, fyi: nextel is an iDen network, not GSM. Just because it uses a sim card doesn't mean it's GSM...

The brew and java thing wont stop the phone from working for voice. Voice and texting should still work if Sprint allowed the phone to be activated. Chances are they wont as the ESN wont be loaded into their inventory. All CDMA carriers have the ability to activate any CDMA phone to their network, they just choose to only allow phones made for their own network to be used. As carriers dont use the same data services though (ie BREW for GIN and Java for whateverspintcallsit) and if I remember correctly sprint also uses some messed up system for pix messages so those probably wouldnt work either.

Also, notice that both their posts don't make logical sense and both of their names are in caps lock.

unless I'm mistaken, even though they are both on CDMA, there are still issues with phones working between the Verizon and Sprint (or any other CDMA carrier) networks - like PRL's and other software that can affect billing and such. You would need to remove the software completely, and reload the new carrier software.

but what do I know?

No you can't activate a RAZR on Nextel.

Even if you get a Sprint-branded RAZR it still won't work. There are differences in technology.

Nextel uses iDen and Sprint and Verizon use CDMA.
