Only 2 local plans listed for my area. I used to have a plan for $24.99, now the cheapest plan is $39.99! Looks like Verizon will be pushing infrequent users to other carriers.

In the South Area, theres a $29.99 local plan that isn't advertised, it's 200 anytime minutes, 1K N&W. No LD, no MTM. As you can imagine, it's not very popular.

I had that plan except I had 500 night and weekend minutes too. I finally upgraded to the $39.99 plan with 400 min and unlimited nite/weekend and unlimited mobile to mobile. Most of my calls were to my daughters verizon phone.

Wha? On the Verizon website it lists a 300 minute plan with unlimited nights & weekends for $29.99 (no free 'IN' calling though). Is it not available in your area?
