Hey guys (& gals), I'm currently with T-mobile on the Sidekick II, however my contract is expiring soon. The logical route would be to re-new my contract & get a Sidekick III, however, I found myself in a new management position within my company, & must keep a cell phone on my at all timmes. The Sidekick is a little blocky for this type of thing, so I was looking at smaller phones, but with the QWERTY keypad.

The new Helio Ocean is really catching my eye, & the unlimited plan (500 anytime minutes, 65$) isn't too far off from what I pay now at T-mobile (39.99 phone plan & 19.99 data plan). I do have a few questions though to seal the deal for me;

1) Why is Helio only sold at FYE in my area? FYE is mostly a music store, with 16-18 yr ol...

1. There target demographic is 16-23 y/o and they believe that individuals that age still go to record stores (great now I'm showing my age).

2. Yes. or they can bill your credit card directly.

3. they use the towers for Spring and some Verizon so you should not be charged.

4. There are some, but most should be purchased through them (the people at Best Buy in my area knew which ones worked best since they all had the same phone as mine (drift)).

5. I have not had to deal with customer service since I started other than to activate.

6. Not sure. They do have the total happiness guarantee.

7. The most you will pay for a deposit (provided you go directly through Helio and not a cell phone dealer) is $75.

Ive been told m...

Great, I just checked out the Earthlink site & they have some neat discounts for the Helio.

Mid-May you're hearing, huh? I'll have to save up a bit of money, do you know if the $250+ (forgot the exact amount) is discounted like if you go through T-mobile & do a contract, or since Helio is a semi-new company & can't offer those kind of things, will it be the $250+ on top of the contract?

I'll have to look for a case for the Helio, & I'll probably get one of the Nintendo DS screen protectors & just cut it down to fit the Helio, unless that's not advised!

I am looking for a phone that can cater to my special needs, which is, a lot of talk time (long distance relationships are harsh!), lots of text, & fun internet stuff. Also, ringtone...

I just spoke with Helio re my account (customer service was good). The guy mentioned sometime next week or the week after for the Ocean.

The service for the phone has been great considering I drive all over LA and Orange county. (Ive had 1 dropped call in 4 months). My drift has been a great little phone. I have no complaints other than the syncing software was nothing great (they have a new software for the Ocean). If your Sprint coverage is good in your area, then Helio will replicate it.

Anything else, just let me know.

Awesome, I hope it does come out sometimes next week or the next.

I called two FYE's, one said sometime in the "Summer", the other didn't know, however one of them was the Helio rep. at the store, & she has a Helio, & she said it's AWESOME, so I feel confident in getting one. However, she also said she had no credit (which is my situation) & they gave her two options, put down a 300 dollar refundable deposit or a 150 non-refundable deposit for her phone. I wish it was the 75 dollars I was quoted here, so I don't know what I'm going to do, 150 is a lot 😡.

Any more info on the release date will be awesome!
