Overall, it's meh.

I feel the plan is worthwhile (1000 anytime minutes, unlimited free txts - $50/mo. w/ 18 month contract). Small number of phones to choose. Pretty good coverage, but frequently drops the EVDO (highspeed) so the web takes forever. All the "cool" stuff they offer is fee based (seems like a $1.99 for everything). Customer service has long delays and are generally useless . . .

I was sick of Sprint screwing me over (after 11 yrs) so I switched. Unfortunately it seems like Ampd is offering the best plan (my most important item) at this time so I'll probably stick w/ them. Hopefully their service and content improve.

I'm suprised to hear that about the coverage. Amp'd uses Verizon's network and I use Verizon, never had a problem with dropped calls. I work for a Cingular agent at the moment and we are contemplating switching to a different carrier and Amp'd is high on the list as of right now, so I've been tryin to read up on them as much as possible.

This is a common misconception. They use some very limited amounts of the VZW network. They in NO WAY should be compared to Verizon. They are nothing like Verizon Wireless.

you have no idea what you are talking about. the only part of the verizon network they don't use is the analog part. so i don't know where you are getting your info but you are have be given the wrong info. take a look at the 2 coverage maps they are almost identical, except for analog areas. so anyone who is thinking of getting away from verizon or wants the verizon network without having to deal with verizon, amp'd is the way to go.

And the key thing to understand is that an Ampd phone can roam wherever a Verizon phone can roam... and without any roaming charges!

Making the move to Ampd would be a good move for your agent. Ampd is doing BIG things in the wireless industry. They have even started growing internationally (Canada and Japan). They are making alot of great moves and giving consumers something fresh and different. If you need a refferral, check out a Master called Wireless Channels. They can be reached at WirelessChannels.net and they are a great National Master for AMpd as well as all other National Carriers. We use them for our Ampd and its been a great product since we added it to our stores.

Give me break!! this is clearly written by someone with ampd! Amp'd is a horrible company with horrible customer service. Their billing department does not communicate with their customer service department AT ALL. Their plans seem great,,unlimited etc, until you get your bill. Amp'd has quickly gained the reputation of over billing and not taking accountability for it. Their customer service reps are Nice but unhelpful--they are probably sick of dealing with unhappy customers. Save yourself a HUGE headache,, stay away from amp'd!

OKAY on the over billing try 4,000.00 bill accusing me of using 9,000 minutes in 3 weeks and blah blah blah. basicallty saying I talked like 17 hours a day on my phone. Virtually impossible. Now they refuse to talk to me and send me a paper bill being that their website is an absolute mess and you cant read hhalf of your account info. I have been hung up on charged $20for a paper bill I never recievend and a money order payment (because EVERYTIME I TRIED TO PAY ONLINE OR ON THE PHONE I WAS TOLD I DIDNT EXIST OR I WAS HUNG UP ON) never got issued to my account but the money order company says it was basically spent they promised to resolve it but never did. THey f*****G suck!

It is true Amp'd works everywhere that verizon does no exceptions. There phone selection is weak but their price plans more than make up for this. So if you really do want Verizon service for less money Amp'd is your answer.

It was through them as well. 🙄

I sell Amp'd and just actually switched to them from sprint 😛 LOVING it so far and have had no problems, the CS is really laid back and I got a few direct lines to them if i ever need anyone ASAP. RAZR from ampd is SO much better then the others in my opinion, sprints RED razr CRAP to many software issues, and the quality on AMp's razr is superior to VW, T-mobile, and STinkular. Ill be put on employee plan but i got a SWEET deal, 1000 min, unlimited text, and free ampd over dose for 49.99 YOU CANT BEAT THAT, just add 7 dollars for nights at 7 and YOU ARE GOOD TO GO! but all in all plans are amazing, service is amazing, coverage is amazing, and Downloading prices are CHEAP sprint is 2.50 and ampd is 1.00 for a song, and various ringtones a...

Well, sorry but I can beat that deal and you should know if you left sprint. My bill has never been over $30 for every thing , AND I get $50 in FREE Downloads every month.
But he question here is Ampd. They do offer good content and good coverage. They certainly have some room for improvement. Porting in, in particular. My store sells alot of Ampd Mobile because of the Forever Unlimited deal. They definately have their own way of doing things, different from all other carriers. Probably because when they started most of their people had NO CLUE how to do it. They are getting better lately, and its been over a month since anyone in CS has been outright rude with me on the phone. Lets hope they continue to make advancements in the right dir...

from what i understand. CS reps were actually 3rd people contractors that doesn't work for Amp'd. Thus, they can give 2 cent ass about your problems. They finally bought out the department and start using their own CS and it's been good (even tho. they still need to hire more reps because it takes like an hour just to open up 2nd line still!).

chocolateman i thought you said you would never go back to amp'd. you posted on 1-6 you had them for 3 weeks and would never go back, why the chance of heart? i know you had some issues but the thing you need to remember they are a new and growing company, so you should cut them some slack. yes the cs needs work but i know they just went through and got rid of a lot of the cs workers and they are bringing in a new expert in that field to manage and bring them up to speed. so if you stick it out for a month or so things will be getting a lot better.

Because they are a new company and I shouldn't have judged them is the overall service is good, minus the tv/net. That, and Verizon is an older company w/ much s---tier customer service. Never have I poured so much money into a company that didn't give me much for it. I also have a Sprint SLVR, but I will be picking up a Hollywood this weekend.
