Tracfone destroyed my account in one phone call...

This evening, I have had absolutely the worst customer service that I have ever, ever experienced from any company whatsoever out of Tracfone. If, after reading this you choose to activate with this company, well, I would just wonder why.

A week ago I activated a Motorola W376g. After four days, the phone failed. It wouldn’t turn on at all. On Saturday, I called Tracfone, went through the normal routine of checking the phone out. The support rep. told me a new phone would arrive in 3-5 days.

Today, Wednesday October 14, the new phone arrived. I called TF to have my old number ported over. Over the next 20 minutes the rep asked for my SIM card numbers, the phone number to be ported, all the usual stuff.

I was then put on hold for 20 more minutes, with the rep coming back on the line every couple of minutes or so, telling me he was waiting for another office. Forty minutes after the call began, he came back on the line and told me I had been assigned a phone number with a Missouri area code. My home…and old area code…are in Austin Texas. They had managed to lose my number. Thank GOD I had not yet ported my REAL number.

I then told the rep that on top of that my minutes were not showing up on the new phone (with the out of state area code). He asked me to turn my phone off, then on. I turned it off, and then…you guessed it…the NEW phone would not come on, just like the old one.

Once again, we go through the motions of taking the battery out, etc. The rep then tells me that the phone actually needs to charge for five to seven hours. I inform him that the phone has charged for five hours already. He asks me to charge the phone for one more hour and call them back. At this point, the time is 8:45 p.m. He says they will be open until 9:45 p.m., Central Time. I call back at 9:06 p.m. The customer service center recording tells me they have closed.

In the space of one day, Tracfone

…shipped me a phone that failed
…lost my original phone number
…lied to me about their when the customer service center would close

I never in any of my 54 years been exposed to this kind of corporate incompetence in such a short period of time. I am only glad I never gave them my REAL phone number or any large amount of cash for equipment or time.

This is truly unfortunate, as Tracfone has a good service. The AT&T-based coverage area just can’t be beat. The these Rhesus Monkeys that run the place should be shot or hung, but only after extended torture. No, excuse me, I just unfairly insulted Rhesus Monkeys. Only humans could screw up like this. I can only assume that TF MUST be giving SOMEONE good service, as they continue in business.

But I am simply astounded by what has happened to me this evening.
