Top message: service with 5180 by tasthree
Replying to: Re: service with 5180 by Menno
We actually had two 5180's activated. Mine was new and the wifes was a refurbished one when purchased in 03. The 5180's are CDMA and no aGPS. Mine got way better reception than hers. We decided to try a new phone. Since we have mostly Verizon and CDMA around here I bought a LG 200c at Kmart and transfered her phones stuff to it . It got better reception than her old 5180 but my old 5180 gets up wards of two bars and service when the LG drops. While looking for a car charger for the LG I found a new Nokia 2126i at a Kerr Drug store. It gets better reception than the LG 200 but my old 5180 still seems to do better. For now we are going to keep my old 5180 and the new 2126i activated. We are also going to get a Verizon Moto W755 and see which two are better overall. WE live in the mountains so reception in the vallys is important to us. I called Nokia and Tracfone about reactivating a 5180 and they said should be ok cause they were digital. That only a analog phone couldn't be be reactivated. I thought there was a aGPS law. Don't know now ?
