Tracfone subscribers exceed Nextel user?
Exciting for a prepaid carrier which is a MVNO of at&t's network.

Tracfone also uses Verizon's network. I know, because I own one (Nokia 2126i).
Not surprising their success considering the fact that they provide plans for less than ten bucks per month and phones that will work in most areas. Most other pre-paid phones have far less coverage.

Tracfone uses GSM signals (AT&T, T-Moble) on some phones and CDMA signals (Verizon, US Cell) on some phones. Different phones are sold in different markets depending on the carrier network in place. Some markets offer CDMA or GSM phones, but no single phone uses both types of signals.
I believe that was my point. I never said that Tracfone offers dual GSM/CDMA handsets, just that they do offer CDMA handsets as opposed to an all GSM lineup.
