I purchased a tracfone for my son's birthday and activated the phone on 11-12-05. My son lives in a different zip code than me. Before I purchase the phone I did extensive research on their website to ensure that my son would be able to use the phone since he lives in a small town. Their webiste had nothing that said some technology does not work in certain zip codes. When I typed in the zip code, it showed that they provided service in that area.

When we activated the phone on 11-12, the zip code did not work, so we activated using my zip code. He tried to call TracFone several times but never got through. I contacted tracfone on 11-25 when my son was in town with his phone. At this point he had barely used the phone since it was...

I have a buddy at work who swears by TracFone and he just has the cheap little Nokia 1100 and it gets a full signal in most places. Unlike Sprint or T-Mobile.

this is possible. of course both of those companies blow. we make fun of tracfone because of the incessant butt-raping with it's fees. for some it may work, but the amusing bit is people who buy a prepaid service and expect a company to do something for them with no guarantee they will remain a customer long enough to make up for the price difference. listen up everyone
if you are prepay your provider will not do for you what they will for a contracted plan. get a real service.

I personally dont see why they dont switch over to TracFone's other company NET10 and save 10 cents 🙂

NET10 is owned by TracFone and its 10 cents cheaper a minute for the EXACT same service.. go figure..

Yes they are. But they keep growing and growing because of all the late night DJ's on the radio pushing them 🙂

If I were in a pinch i wouldnt even consider TracFone. I'd go with their other half Net10 just for the 10 cent minutes.

those losers aren't dj's they're glorified disc monkeys. real dj's spin sets, make continuity between tracks, mess with the effects to personalize them, mix more than one track together to make a new track. Radio jockeys (rj's) are just a talking version of Winamp.

I don't think this is a reasonable statement. I was selling Tracfone for a little while (the market was really good, but I won't go into why unless I'm prompted), and the minutes aren't static. If you purchase 40 minutes through Tracfone, it will cost $20. 100 minutes is $30. That's a distinct difference in cost per minute...50 cents/minute vs 33 cents/minute respectively. The more minutes you buy at a time, the better cost/minute you're getting. Nobody understands this concept, so everyone always bought $20 cards every couple of days. I hate people. I love Tracfone. It supplies me with my sacrificial goats.

tracfone is a middle man that resells the major carriers service. Why not get bypass them and just get your son a prepaid phone with one of them.. Cingular's go phone program will give him great service as it uses their national network. You can also buy them right at your local store, or his, whichever is better for you.
