Do Boost credits ever expire?

I'm considering buying/giving a Boost phone to someone who doesn't really need or use phone on regular basis. This would be for emergency etc. My question/concern is that I don't want to lose any credits if they go un-used. I understand that a re-boost is required at least every 90 days. Correct?

What's the minimum Re-Boost?

If there are still usused Boost credits, will they continue to accumulate?

It looks the Chirp Days, Chat Nights plan would be best for this type of user. Correct?

What are the gotchas? Any suggestions?

Minimum is $20.00

Yes, minutes will roll-over. HOWEVER, the first intial minutes you get on your boost phone is valid for 90 days. Any card you purchase after that is valid for only 60 days. Boost is currently running a promo if you activate online, they'll give you $5.00 extra. You might want to take advantage of that.

Yes, chirping in the days is $1.50. If you miss a day, they don't charge you. In the daytime, cellular minutes are $0.20. In the nig...

There really are no gotchas. *shrugging*

Okay, Mr. "Insert Witty Name Here" is WRONG. Boost minutes go up in smoke 90 days after activation, for ever (or until they change it :-). He's probably misreading the following from the FAQ:

# HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO RECHARGE MY ACCOUNT?
You will need to recharge at least once every 90 days to keep your account active. If you don't recharge within 90 days, any unused credits after 90 days will be forfeited and you'll have 60 days to recharge your account to avoid your account being terminated. Once terminated, you will lose all your numbers (PTN and Boost Walkie-Talkie).

Here's the story version: You buy your phone, have $10 in credits, use up $8 in the first 89 days, so your balance is $2. On day 89 you buy a Reboost car...

O.K. So say I re-boost for $20 on day 89, with $2 left from previous boost (per your example), so I'll have $22. Then, on day 91, I'll still have $22? Or, will I lose the $2?

Assuming, I keep re-boosting for $20, every 90 days, the previous credits will/will not go up in smoke?

W/Virgin, you never lose your previous credits, as long as you "Top-Up" every 90 days. So, I've got $$ on my kid's phone that I bought over a year ago.

Now you know why I'm not in technical support 🙂

It's just like Virgin. On day 91 you'd have $22 (minus any calls). Previous credits just pile up.
