MMS issues

I am in need of some help explaining an error message that lot's of our new i450 customers are getting...
We obviously have not had the necessary training to help resolve and it may actually be a solution only our Wireless Web support team can offer but I would still appreciate a little knowledge on the subject.

The error message is : " Real Time Authorization Failure"

This occurs when they attempt to open up a new MMS message.

Thanks, Jess

Hey Jess,

Did you ever resolve this? My i450 just staretd getting this.

For whatever it's worth, here's my story:

1. I get my i450, love it 🙂 and try all the features, including the internet.
2. I check my account online, see I'm being charged $0.20 per day for some reason.
3. Turns out I'm an idiot ☚ī¸ and that I'm charged every day for internet, use it or not, and that's what the Boost website says.
4. The helpful Boost person says, "We can turn it off for you!" and does so, at least I presume... I haven't been charged $0.20 every day at 5:12 am any more.
5. Now, suddenly, ordinary SMS messaging just doesn't work, and I'm getting the "Real Time Authorization Failure" message.

Are these steps related? I'll call customer su...

Thats interesting ...I never even thought to look at it from that direction!

From the information I have been able to gather the error message pops up when the MMs message is from a different carrier, so we have been assuming that it is a formatting problem....
But , maybe, it has to do with a very simple need to have the access to the Web as a feature!

I am confused by your claim to have had access to SMS...Boost does not operate on the SMS service. The text messaging is done via the web and comes in the form of a Net alert...
Are you talking about text messaging? If that is the issue try these steps to resolve: Go to Mani Menu > Settings > Phone Calls > Notifications....set the notifications at "Receive All"...Now try and restart t...

Hi Jess,

Well, browser reset didn't help, so I called Boost customer support. Talked to a guy named Lee (nice guy, competent seeming, STRONG southern accent) and he said that it's a problem for all Boost customers right now -- they did some network maintenance, and when it came back, boom, no messages. He didn't have an idea as to when it'd be fixed.

As to 'SMS', bring up "Message Center" and scroll down... the last entry is "SMS" (on my phone at least :-). You can understand my confusion!

Also, I thought the "Receive All" was for when you were actually talking on the phone. When you're off the phone (not talking) they come right through, right?

Thanks,

Chris.
I found a message on our iConnect that stated there was a current, ongoing issue with MMS, but what your experiencing has been going on for weeks now, So i don't believe it is the same problem....I spoke with our wireless support group today and he also sounded very secure in the belief that it is a translation issue between carriers...
I just can't really feel comfortable with any of these answers till I actually get a resolution when I troubleshoot a specific problem with very specific actions..."we did this and this worked", that is what makes me feel confident in giving an answer.
I am just about to buy an i415 or i450 just to have the handset and figure out what works !

Second issue: Yes I do understand your confusion.......

Hi Jess,

Thanks for keeping up with us -- I really appreciate the support. You have to buy YOUR OWN i450 to try it out?!? Wow. That's just... wrong. They expect you to troubleshoot something you can't touch? You must be really good... demand a raise :-).

Anyway, back to the task at hand. Sorry to be confusing about terminology -- I don't care what we call it 🙂 I just want to be able to do it!

Here's what I'd like to do, and what DID work the first few days I had the phone. I really like to be able to use Google's message services. You send requests to them at 46645 (which is GOOGL, yeah, no E) and you get great stuff. I've gotten driving directions, local company address/phone numbers (driving somewhere late sunday, needed...

Chris...I appreciate the sentiment and I wish I were as good as it appears...all smoke and mirrors, all smoke and mirrors!

As far as whinning goes ...not only do I have to maintain my own fleet of test models for our floor, I have to pay for the service!
Silly, huh!
Oh Well, it's all for love and money, right...

I will follow up on the rest of your message, Thanks!

Its an internal server issue on the Boost server. Basically its not reading the code that the phone is trying to read/send so it times out like if you had regular internet when you cant find the website you get the weird screen "cant find server. I was on the phone with them for a week about that. I know about how to reset the browser and all. Maybe I should sell the phones......naw I am electrician why quit a good thing. LOL

Hey Jess (and everyone else),

Some minor improvements -- now, when I send a message from the Boost webpage, it arrives almost immediately! Woot :-)

I sent a message from my wife's Cingular phone, and it took an hour or so to arrive, but it came in.

Still no Google, though...

Thanks, YAChris,
I'm also getting a lot of calls about delayed transmission from E-mails to Boost Handsets...Any suggestions or tips would greatly benefit those trying to receive e-mails from PC's.
My understanding is that if you forward an e-mail to a Boost phone with the address of PTN@myboostmobile.com it should be received as a text...please advise!!!
Once again, thanks chris...Jess

Yeah, that worked once (back awhile ago, when I first got the phone, and all messaging worked).

However, I sent myself an email at MY_PTN@myboostmobile.com this morning, and 7 1/2 hours later it hasn't arrived... so this seems to be down too.

Yup ! Thats exactly the problem I have been getting from customers...I called into Wireless Web Support this morning and that was the company line...a National web problem!
I guess we need to give a while , maybe call in and have them refresh the UPL, restart the browser and try again???
Thanks, Jess

It's got to be localized..I sent one an hour ago and just went upstairs to see ...there it is !
Ok I'm going to try again, real time.

BAM...instantly!
I'm in Utah so it may be a network backlog issue, there ain't a lot of Nextel traffic out here, yet ?

it also could have to deal with the settings on your phone.. such as if you push receive all or delay all, things like that could affect the time of the arrival of the text messages..

does your web system work?

if you want i can test it with you.

as jess mentioned there are some outages with regards to the wireless web. i would just keep power cycling your phone, by the way DO NOT DO A MASTER RESET.. many people get confused about that and this actually messes up the system a bit becuase it creates a backlog in the system... as jess mentioned also call them up and make them refresh the system from THEIR end.

hope that helps.. if you want help message me and i can try to help ya further.. (i have no idea where you live either,...
