Confusing chirping question

jmhunter

I've been dispatched as a sub contractor down to the South to help with disaster restoration from the hurricanes. I currently use verizon. I do plan on sticking with them.

Here is my question.

I am going to be in the US. I need to be able to chirp other contractors. Some of them are canadian (thus they have Telus Mike, the canadian nextel counterpart) They will be in the US with me.

Now my question is where there be a service charge for me chirping them, for international charges? even though theyre going to be local?

How about a follow up. What If I am in receipt of a chirp from a canadian Nextel(Mike), that is in the US.

as long as you respond to them every single time within 6 seconds then you are fine. if not, then you would have to pay the per min cost or you pay the unlmited that i previously posted to you.

If you receive a chirp inbound from a telus you will be charged international DC at approx. .10 a minute for your reply and if you initiate the same holds true....Doesn't work any better if you get service with them and use it on there network, same deal ..it's the tower your attaching to that determines the cost. Still cheaper, faster, and more convinient to go Direct Connect, and if you have to talk with those who have it to get the job done than I don't see an easy solution....Sorry, Jess

not exactly true. (perhaps i am not understanding lol becuase i am so tired)

if he gets an internatial chirp he wont be paying any moneys besides the 1.50 unless he keeps responding within that 6 second time frame, however, if its mroe then 6 seconds and he responds then he will pay.

If you are both in Boost's (Nextel's) US coverage areas then you won't pay any more than chirping to a US Boost customer. Once that Telus customer uses their phone in the US it is registered on the US network and you'll just be using the Boost Nationwide Walkie-Talkie.

If they go back to Canada, or you go to Canada, you will incur the international surcharge since all or a leg of that conversation will be off the US network.

Good Question Jim...I'm not even going to make a quess without checking for you first, this is the kind of question I'm very likely to stick my foot down my throat if I make an assumtion....I will ba back at work on Friday and let you know as soon as I can friday night....I'm afraid to to suggest our customer care...this is a question that is murky on the answer, but my first inclination is that yes there maybe some international roaming cost, if you can actually chirp them...Hold off till I get a straight answer...Jess

if they chirp you first and continue within the 6 seconds blockage time you dont have to worry.

"Now my question is where there be a service charge for me chirping them, for international charges? even though theyre going to be local?"
