Alltel already bought Western Wireless. The merger is complete as of June 18th. I am a WW customer and cannot wait to get a new phone!

Can you please show me a link where this information can be found. I see nothing on the FCC website.

Hi there,

I'm a C1 Authorized Dealer in the Mid-West. Alltel did buy WW, but I doubt they will re-sell our market very soon...the reason? They would be slitting their own throat. They want C1 as a small fish for as long as possible. They can't eliminate us here, due to the A/B switch - that would be a monopoly. And if they sold us to, say, ANYONE else, not only would I become rich, but the churn would destroy thier market share in this region. I love C1, and would close my office rather than work for Allsmell...but when we are finally re-sold, I'll buy that new Jag...

So will the western wireless stores be changed to alltel? Just wondering because my parents live in Minnesota is summer and Florida in the winter, so this merger may be something to look at.

Don't know...to give you an idea, the purchase of the Oklahoma Market ATTWS properties was final on April 15th, and we will be able to activate Alltel services starting on August 1st. I don't know exactly how long, but I would guess, a matter of 3-8 months after the completion for each market.

Uh, this was announced back in like December/January. So they are hardly rumors.

And yeah, all the Western Wireless Cellular One branded stores will be remodeled (at least ours will be) and rebranded to Alltel.

From what I hear, it's an internal target date. The Oklahoma market that they purchased from Cingular was supposed to close on April 1, but it got pushed back to the 15th. It's still a target, but nothing will be official until all parties sign on the dotted line.
