So I want to get an unlocked phone. Cell One selection sucks. I want to get an Nokia N70. It is 900/1800/1900 MHz. Will it work for Cell One??? Or do I have to get a 850 MHz?? I sure hope not cause the pickings are slim.

Yes, you will need a phone with the 850mhz band because that is the the most widely used band between cingular and cell one. I called them about a month ago to see if I could use a phone that did not have the 850mhz band. And they said mostly no because most of the states they cover utilizes that band. And the other states(like one or two) use the 1900 band. Now I dont know which state you are located in but have you looked at tmobile.http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/ There primary band is 1900mhz, unless you travel alot and go into the 850mhz roaming areas. But you could use a 900/1800/1900 phone with them and have no problem if you stay on there network and the T-Mobile USA Roaming Coverage(which is not 850mhz roaming) and not in 850mhz. G...

not true.....you can use a 1900 MHz phone....you just won't get AS GOOD of service....i didn't think it was possible but i have found out since working for a cell one distributor, that CELL ONE's towers are BOTH 850/1900. but when you roam it's mostly 850. so you won't have that great of service.

Like the previous user mentioned, if you have a GSM phone capable of 850 MHz and 1900 MHz, you'll be fine anywhere in the US of A.

Well is NOKIA your brand of preference? Because there are many quad-band GSM models out there of different brands.

To clarify, since the phone is an international tri-band handset, it will only work on the 1900MHz spectrum. Then again, that ain't even a guarantee which in this case he would be more than likely on roam ALL the time on T-Mobile's network on GSM. Just remember since you're going to be getting a phone we don't support, you're on your own for tech support if something goes wrong with it in any fashion or form. Real talk, homie.
