Question about CellularOne?

I'm currently a US Cellular customer, I own a phone that according to Motorola should have the ability to transfer ringtones and images via usb cable between my pc and my phone. USCC locked out that feature to force me to use their EasyEdge data service to be able to get my own created ringtones. Needless to say I won't pay them to use my own created rintones. So now I'm considering jumping ship and swimming on over to CellularOne.
So here's my question. Does CellOne lock out features on their phone to force people to use their data service?
I also like the idea that CellOne is doing some forward thinking by switching over to GSM. Now considered a world standard for cell networks.
Maybe I'm just a cheap bastard, but I believe that I sho...

Cell One doesn't lock any features from any gsm phone. They sell it exactly as you would see it straight from the manufacturer. They don't add or remove any software. The phones themselves are unlocked. I have used a usb cable for 18 months now on my ol' V400 with no issues, and also a Bluetooth dongle for my 6230. Again, no problems.

WOW, the Bluetooth transfer feature is enabled. That's awesome, especially since US Cellular offers phones with Bluetooth, but they disable the OBEX so a person cannot transfer between computor or from another cellphone. The only Bluetooth feature USCC allows is headset connection. Why even bother offering BT if all the good features are disabled.
Well looks like USCC just lost another customer, as soon as my contract is up, I'll be walking thru the local CellularOne's doors.
Anyone interested in buying a Locked Down Feature(less) USCC CDMA cellphone?

petenick, you are a bit off, or at least for the V3. I purchased a new V3 from Cellular One and was surprised to find out the Video Camera function was disabled. They also locked it so I could not transfer any ringtones to the phone using Motorola Phone Tools. A simple flex of the latest STOCK MOTO firmware took care of this issue. Because of this I find it hard to believe that Cellular One sells ALL of its phones unlocked and stock. I asked the a store manager about this and he just seemed confused as hell. I love Cellular One, I used to have All-Tell, but the Customer Service and Store Reps, that I have talked to, seem a bit clueless. At least they are all nice people.

From what we sell here they are all usually unbranded and are not locked. I have put other sim cards from other carriers and also transfered data through bluetooth. All are phones should be that way. I am suprised to hear that yours was disabled. It shouldnt have been . What area did you buy yours from?

Some of handsets are now locked. The blackberries all have subsidiary locks on them, as do the Treos I believe. I am not sure about the RAZR because I bought mine elsewhere, but it seems that we are looking to lock all of our high end handsets.

Why would CellOne do that. That is exactly why I'm considering dumping USCC. They are trying to force me to use their EasyEdge data service to transfer ringtones and pics to and from my phone. I think it's a dirty business practice. Like buying a new car with a killer sound system but in order to use it you have to pay the manufacturer on a per use basis. I refuse to follow along with the mindless masses and let cellphone companies dictate what I can and cannot do with a cellphone that I own. Guess I'll have to buy an unlocked GSM phone off Ebay then treaten the Service Rep with a good ass beating if he or she tries to lock my phone.
