Can anyone tell me if an LG CU500 can be used on Cellular One?

I have tried 2 of them now, purchased from eBay. Both were Cingular phones advertised to be "unlocked". The 1st one, a new phone, just came up with "Network unavailable" when I tried to make a call. The SIM card was from a RAZR I was using on Cellular One. The 2nd one, a used phone, with the same SIM card, actually displaed "Cellular One" on the screen after I enabled wireless on it, but it also displayed "Network unavailable" when I tried to place a call. The screen also no longer displayed "Cellular One". Now the SIM card doesn't even work in the RAZR. It does not display any signal strength bars or "Cellular One" when I power it on and it goes through a "searching fo...

You've burnt your SIM card, thats why it doesnt show anything on your RAZR.

As far as unlocked phones go, cell one does not require a locked phone, all our phones are unlocked except the BB and other "smart" phones.

Really anu unlocked phone, thta uses a SIM can be used on Cellone/ATT.

Call Tier2 Tech Support at cell one.

They will get you working again!

Thanks for your reply. I agree with "You've burnt your SIM card". It's the how and why that interests me. A new SIM card from Cellular One got the RAZR working, but not the LG CU500. This time I didn't attempt to make a call with the CU500 because it didn't show any signal strength bars and I fearewd burning another SIM card. I purchased a Cingular SIM card from eBay and it shows signal strength and completed a 911 call for me. I didn't think I implied Cellular One requires a locked phone, but rather that the CU500 isn't really unlocked so it won't work with a Cellular One SIM card. When I called LG, they said the phone should work with anyones SIM card if it isn't locked. Cellular One customer care wouldn't put me through to Tier2 t...

To answer your question, the person sold you an LG CU500 that is still locked to AT&T. Anytime you put a SIM card in the phone and it won't hit any type of signal, it is more than likely locked. And as to why they ain't put you through to us in Tier-2 kinda strange. I could've at least answered the question about your problem right off the bat.

if it is actually unlocked, there is no reason it should not work.
