So Dobson is bought out....now what?

We all know that AT&T bought out Dobson, but what are they going to do with the company's existing customers? They can either keep Cellular One as a separate entity or integrate it with themselves...so what seems most likely to happen?

they will absorb our customers and force them to change rate plans and when you call customer service you will get somone name "joe" that lives in india and dosent speak english to assist you. I am trying to remain positve about this but I just invested in a C1 Dealership less than 4 months ago and this is a huge blow to my future plans 😡

I don't know. I know they have a few call centers here in OK, which is about 400 yards away from corporate H.Q. I think they will probably take some from a few places in departments like care, nba, and maybe retentions. I worry that my job in tech will be lossed, since it's a more "specialized" department.

i guess i start my job search this Monday....enjoy the weekend guys....

As far as I know, for us call center employees, us techs included, I'd stick around to see if they offer any type of bonus to us due to the acquisition. If they cut our jobs, they gone have to offer us severance pay. On the up, when I first heard the news I was like, "Aw, f**k that!! I ain't going through this again and end up having to work under Cingular management!!". After I put more thought into it, I'm staying put until the offers are laid on the table for us. Besides, they'd want to keep us since our data support is more gangsta than their data support. We got a whole lot more hands-on experience with devices.

Guys stick around, seriously. As with the other corporate buyouts I've been through, they are basically guaranteed to hook up some sweet severance packages. Ol' Dussek and the gang have put aside 19.4 MILLION dollars* for the retention bonus program alone. And that's just for the employees that are sticking around, I can't imagine what sweet deals they've got planned for those folks who are eliminated due to redundancies! Sticking around would be worth it...

AT&T doesn't have out of contry customer care or tech support, with the exception of Mexico (for spanish speaking customers) and Canada. And why would you be upset that you now are part of a company that has over 64 million customers, nationwide coverage and UMTS data to sell, not to mention the best phones out there??? Do you really enjoy selling outdated phones?

I think this is absolutely rediculous! After all that Cellular One did the past 2 years that I was there, they just threw it all away and was a sell out to a piece of **** company AT&T?

I am dissappointed in you Everett Dobson! You make me sick!

I know I no longer work there or live there but was not really by choice and if I could have brought my job with me I would have!

Oh well...all good things must come to an end...but it still does not make since...after buying Highlands(which probably made them severly broke) After making new systems for us...new everything...we sell out...

Well to my cell one family in ohio....I'd start looking for a job...and good luck! Come out here to CO the jobs are nice and we don'...

This cracks me up.. I was sitting outside on break friday when the news hit. Another rep was talking to someone else and said this..

"The only reason CellOne is selling to AT&T is for the money"..

I wanted to look her straight in the face and say....DUH!!

Isn't that what companies are all about, making money?

I dont like losing my job any more then the next guy/gal but c'mon..

Of course these customer's will be integrated. Cell One/Dobson has service in most area's that AT&T doesn't so it will benefit them to combine services. I'm sure customer's will have the option to stay on their plans and keep their "limited" services or take advantage of AT&T plans, phones, mobile to mobile, and coverage.

The only issue I see CellOne customers complaining about will be losing their Unlimited plans. $55 for unlimited statewide mins is hard to beat.

Im sure AT&T will grandfather those plans and then as soon as customers move off of them they wont be able to go back to them.

Oh yeah, I have a tech friend works at AT&Tingular call center across from our Corp Office and the employee phone plans are not free. Its something like $10/month for 1000 mins and 200 sms. 😛
