Verizon divestiture

With the Alltel buyout approved, Verizon will be seeking a partner or partners to purchase the spectrum and markets the FCC is forcing them to divest. Is there a chance that Leap will purchase any of these markets?

Would be nice. I've been eying Cricket for a while because of those cheap unlimited plans. I'm still going to wait and see if they do, but I think Sprint or U.S. Cellular will be more likely to purchase said divested markets.

USCC has intentions of acquiring certain divested markets (regardless of 850 or 1900 network), while Sprint will only go after PCS networks. Sprint has always stayed away from lower band frequencies, which is why they never participated in the 700 band auction. So any Alltel markets they acquire would have to be for the PCS network only.

I don't think sprint can purchase anything at this point in time. Even if it was sold at the dollar store.
