Leaving Cricket - Anyone Else?

jamgood96

Mar 19, 2007, 4:10 AM
I've been with Cricket for a week and a half and am leaving as soon as I can sell my phone. It's been an uphill battle since I joined them. Here's a small list for your reading pleasure:

- I am miserably unhappy with their rude and unhelpful customer service.
- I can no longer recieve text messages from Cingular; period.
- Picture messages are limited to only two other networks and seldomly go through.
- They have a 30 minute/30 day return policy on phones, so if the service is crap and not what they clame it to be, you're SOL.
- Must be outside of buildings to have a decent conversation or send a text message.

Has anyone else had any of these issues? I called and they "refreshed" my phone to try and get rid of the problem. This ha...

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having. What market are you in?

Customer Service is an issue and we are addressing it but that will take time.

I have no problems using my phone in buildings or on the street.

I send about 20 text a day to Cingular customers and have not had one problem - 100% delivery.

Picture messaging is touch and go. I would say only about 50% of my messages go through, pain in the butt!

The return policy has grey area but I don't see a real problem with this policy.

Why would you say you hate to talk bad about a company and then turn around and talk bad about a company. You must not hate it that bad!

If you haven't canceled yet and are interested in staying with Cricket let me know and I w...

I'm in the Portland, OR market.

I can send text messages all I want to Cingular customers, but I cannot recieve a single one from them.

Like you said, picture messaging is VERY touch and go.

The return policy has a grey area? How's that?

I normally don't talk bad about a company, and feel I'm not being overly pronounced in my feelings towards them. Its just that I don't appreciate spending a lot of money for a phone with a company, and then have headaches. It would be fine and dandy if that were just it, but to talk to CS and be treated like an idiot or a nuisance, that's just not right.

I already ordered another phone from a different company and have my Cricket phone on eBay since they are not willing to offer me any sort of...

I'm in Houston so I am unable to speak to any specific problems they may be having there. We had some issue early on but to be honest I feel we have an excellent Network team and they have been proactive in assessing problems and getting them fixed. I know Portland is newer than we are so give us a little bit of a break in that regard. Saying all that we understand its your money and your time and you have the right to decide who you want to do business with, I just don't want you to leave with such a bad taste in your mouth.

As I stated before Customer Service will get better as we continue to grow and we spend some more time training them. We apologize about the experience you had but in the future please visit one of our corporate ...

i am sorry you have had such bad luck with cricket. i work at wireless toyz so i have a lot of customers come in with the same problem. everyone of them is out $200 to $500. i just wish some of them would have come to me first. here at wireless toyz we carry multiple carriers so we can usually find an excellent carrier for the customer. we also buy used cell phones, so if you would like to come in we can take that phone off your hands and get you with a carrier that will treat you good. also, you have 14 to 30 day return policy with all carriers we have in store. if you dont like dealing with customer service you dont have to! at wireless toyz we will make any calls regarding you cell phone/plan, so you dont have to. stop by any time, wood v...

I am employed in the Network Operations Department for Cricket. I am disturbed that your issue was unresolved in a timely matter, and I'm currently looking into why this was not escalated if it was still an issue. We escalate all known issues within 48 hours to a resolution if they are known. We are a very new market with a brand new Network, which usually has a short term optimization period to identify issues like what you have unfortunately experienced. We build our own Switching facility, Cell towers, and high speed Data network which utilizes the latest in CDMA 1X technology. We have initially built our market in the Oregon, and the SW Washington area to insure the best over all coverage quality. We are currently averaging below a 1% dr...

I just left cricket. I think they are a crappy company hiding from consumers. I went verizon halfway through a prepaid month. No problem right? Wrong! Right before I quit I had an old cricket phone reactivated because my newer one broke, the cost 15 bucks, no problem, I'll pay that. They couldn't send me a text because I was no longer a cricket customer, so they sent me a paper bill for 40 bucks and some change. I kept the same number when I moved to verizon. They did not explain at all why they were charging me an extra 25 dollars. I tried for several hours to call cricket and the many stores they have. I never got to speak to a human, not once. And I'm afraid if I don't pay, it will effect my credit. And for those that say be p...

I don't understand why a company would tell it's customers to "be patient" while they "work out the bugs" anyway.

It's the money that I work hard to horde from the government, and I really don't want it to be involved in anyone's "bugs".

😲 If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Why do you think cricket is so cheap??? It's because they have a sub-par network, poor customer service and buggy phones.

Pretty much my sentiments. Just wanted to break free from contracts and the big cell companies that constantly F you with out a qualm.

Any opinion on Helio? I was thinking about trying them out. I'd have to sign a contract, but if I get all that stuff for free, wouldn't mind (as long as it isn't like Cricket).

helio isnt like cricket at all!!! ive had the drift for 4 months now and i have never had a better phone, service, or customer service. because they use sprint and verizon towers i have never dropped a call, or been with out a signal. i cant say enough good things about the company. they accidentally charged me wrong on my bill and it was $175. i called and not only did they change the bill, i got a month free for the inconvenience! my bill went from $175 to $1.20. a dollar!! i couldnt believe it! and if you are 6 months into your contract and you want to change it you can with out extending your contract. every other carrier with extend it! just dont get the heat. its cheaper then the drift, but the drift is far better.

I just got my phone yesterday and am quite happy. I got the heat though. It seems like a decent phone, and I like the size. But I'm VERY annoyed by the text messaging. I've thought about calling and upgrading to the drift, but I have a feeling since both phones are samsungs that the software will be the same.

I'm VERY annoyed that I can not turn off T9 autotext permanetly. I have to switch to abc each text. Also, the hassle I have to go through each time I text is annoying. There's a lot of screen switching and what not.

The phone book is just STUPID how they have it. If I type in b to get to the b's in the phone, it pulls up everybody's name that has a b in it. Is the drift like that?

with the texting it is like that. i dont know how many screens it has for text, but the programs in the phones are supposed to be the same. i dont have the problem with the phone book though... that is weird. you may want to call helio and make sure its not an error.

I have had this new cricket service since December of 06 here in Portland and I have not had any significant issues (but I do realize they are a newer service in the area)

What I do not miss from my sprint and verizon service is my $150-$200 phone bills(I even got one that was $800 oops--"billing error" they said).

I also get better service when compared to my old sprint service-- I had a Katana phone-- and I dropped calls all of the time with sprint.

I pay $50 per month with cricket and this covers me for my long distance to my mom in Texas and my friends in Florida/California --plus all I can text and picture message-- (Grandma wants pics of the grandkids)--
I have even used my phone when I traveled to Denver to visit my family t...

So I'm gonna clear up a few things Kimberly above said that are in-correct. First cricket does have a return policy just like every other carrier. It IS 30 min or 30 days and people are made aware of that when they purchase the phone, it is posted in numerous places and on the receipt. As for the service I personally have two cricket phones and i never drop calls or have service related issues. NO one gets "screwed" out of there money and especially not "300 to 500 dollars" the most expensive phone they sell is only $350. And I'm NOT a dealer and as far as "Commission" If you did your research you'd know that at corporate stores NO one is payed on commission. So they have NO benefit in "lying" to customers..... sincerely, A very happy, EDU...

As a long time (over 5 years) satisfied Cricket customer (but no other affiliation with Cricket) from Knoxville, I would suggest those of you from some of the newer Cricket markets be patient and give them a chance. Their service here has steadly improved and is currently excellent.

As an owner of a construction company that uses several cell phone providers, I have had an excellent opportunity to compare the different services in our area. In fact, over the past few years, we have used virtually every local cell service provider. And since I am a heavy user (3 to 4 thousand minutes per month), I truly know the weak areas of each provider in our market.

I can say without reservation that in the local "unlimited" Cricket market area, ...

I laughed when I drove by wirelesstoyz recently here in Portland--because they just had signs put up saying they are now selling cricket phones-- how ironic. Thank you kimberly.wirelesstoyz for your informational posts-- at least now that you sell the product you will be educated about the real value that cricket service is-- and I still get better reception that my sprint service-- here in portland.
