Hi,
I want to start cricket service, but the phones are pretty expensive to buy! I want to buy one from ebay, but what other carriers phones can you use? Thanks!

You need an unlocked 1900Mhz CDMA phone. The problem is getting the correct PRL on the phone. The *228 code started working in my area, I don't know if it will actually download the PRL to the phone. If not you will have to pay someone to load the prl with a cable. You are probably better off buying one from cricket. You will get a warranty and usually they have a $100 rebate making it cheap or free.

No problmes at!!!! and the resaon y some reps tell u yes and no is simple....lets start with cricket....u can call cricket and ask them if u can get a non cricket phone onto the cricket network there answer NO..and y do u ask...its because cricket wants 2 sell there phones and not loss the money with u gettin a phone that wasnt made 4 cricket ..so they want u 2 pay full price for a strip down phone....and if u took some time and look at a auidovox 8900 from verizon and a audiovox 8900 from cricket and go threw the menu ull see that the verizon phone has all the goods that cricket doesnt....thats y people get other CDMA phones that they like on cricket...if any 1 wants a kool sprint, verizon alltel or any other CDMA on cricket email me at litt...

I had a sprint katana and half of the features did not work because it was not made and tested for cricket when I activated it-- a friend of mine works for sprint and he says it is the same thing when he activates a verizon phone on the sprint network-- it does not work right.
