Can the store update my software?

Hi,

I got a Samsung SPH-A460 phone from my friend. It was a Sprint phone, but we believe is designed to work the same on the US Cellular network here in Chicago also (Trimode CDMA, 1900/800 digital, 800 analog). The phone MSL/SPC thing is unlocked, and I was wondering if I take it into the US Cellular store, will they be able to put the US Cellular software on the phone and activate it for me? All I really care about is if they will turn the phone on, but it would be nice if they could put their software on it too. 'Cause now when the phone starts up it says Sprint.

Thank you very, very much for your help.

Chris.

According to US Cellular reps who frequent various forums on the Net, US Cellular employees have strict orders not to activate ANY phones which were not originally purchased from US Cellular.
If you go to www.howardforums.com, there is a US Cellular forum that gets a lot more traffic that this one does. Several US Cellular reps are on there regularly and can better answer your question.

Thank you, waywith. That doesn't sound like good news for me, but I'll try the other forum you suggested and see what else I can find out. Thanks.
