Word has also gotten around that the company is now cleaning house and firing long time employees or making their lives so miserable they quit. It's happening right now. I think the company is hurting so bad that they are ready for a buyout. Rather than pay severance packages to their long time employees after the buyout, it's cheaper to just fire them or run them out ahead of time. Also, it's cheaper to just hire some 20 year old off the streets than to keep paying some employee who has been there for 10 years making $2 more per hour than a new hire. That and along with all the executive bonuses they need to pay out needs to be paid for by being taken out of employees' commission checks. Even though our performance evaluation has all these outrageous goals we can't make, those executives still get their bonuses even when they completely fail at their job. I can know understand why Occupy Wall Street has such a beef with these greedy, Orwellian corporations that spew out catch phrases to their employees just like being in China or North Korea. They base a lot of their culture from communistic countries. The "dear leader" dictates to a bunch of yes men and women and that's the law laid down in these corporations. These corporations treat their employees as nothing more than a "resource" just like electricity or rent, hence the "human resources" department. When they talk about flexibility, they mean you being flexible to them, not the other way around. Nothing is reciprocated. It's all you waking up in the morning and asking how you can give more of yourself to your corporation. You mean nothing to them and it's become pretty evident that at US Cellular you're expendable, just like a worn out car charger. They will throw you away when you're no longer of any value to them. They have no appreciation for their long time employees. They are more of a burden than anything. The company is sinking fast. You can stay on while it sinks or get off before it's too late.
