I currently work at an indirect store for Sprint near St Louis. I recently got offered a job with US Cellular for thier big midwest launch. I was wondering how much commission to expect a month on average? and how you guys feel about working for the company?

your never going to get a exact answer from anyone. I work for an independent agent for them and am on strickly commission. I do well and the sky is the limit. I have had months that I wouldn't be able to make with two or three promotions up the corp ladder but the consistancy makes the job a good entry level sales job. The exact amounts will varry position by position and area by area. I would hope that chicago reps make more than pieoria reps do. I am not saying US Cell is the best but they are a good company to work for and are doing some positive things. I think you will be better off going away from sprint (unless they get bought)

I've been with US Cellular for about 2 years. The company is run like a Christian Outreach Program! It's a laidback company that is GREAT to work for. US Cellular strives on making people better associates rather than being a number based company.

As far as commission... it varies on the area you work in. I can only speak for the Chicago market. I am in one of the slowest stores and average $800-$1000. Busier stores obviously can make 2-3 times that much. But, remember, commission and effort go hand in hand.

8091nafsbuc, do you work for an agent or retail?

Despite all the negative stuff swirling around this forum right now, USC is a great company. I work for an agent and am lucky to work for a a larger agent that really takes care of its people and pays well. We have our own way of doing things but it falls in line with what USC stands for. We wouldnt be able to do what we do if USC wasnt as great as it is.

Trust me agents are so different than corp. I was with corp and we were held to different standards in our personal lives not just professional. I wish I had been with an agent rather than corp., If I had been maybe i wouldn't have quit.

I hated it. I had to quit it was horrible. They tried to control every aspect of my life even my personal life. Telling me who to be friends with. "because a customer may see you out and you dont want to give them a bad impression of the company. Almost everyone I started with has quit.

what I was told was we were not allowed to speak of our wages, because there are some people that make more then others.

I used to work for Sprint, and I switched to US Cell. The customers are more pleasant, everyone wants to work as a team (sales reps, customer service etc...) instead of fighting over every little thing. I love working for USCC just apply, and go to the interview, they will tell you how much you would be making. If you do take the job, you wont regret it!

LOL You haven't been there long have you. Wait till the first of the year when they put SPAP back in effect. Then you will see the fighting over every sale in order to keep your job.

SPAP is when you do not meet your quota. You are put on spap which is the same as written up. If you get 3 of these in 1 year you can be terminated. I have seen this used to get rid of employees that the manager did not like. It is a dangerous tool especially with the economy in the shape its in.

SPAP isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I am in a VERY slow store and have 0 chance of hitting my quota. (Our store averages 40-50 new activations a month *SIGH*) As long as you are hitting your other metrics (EE, ESSENTIALS, VERTICALS, etc.), you shouldn't need to worry about SPAP.

Conversely, SPAP is a useful tool to eliminate any and all dead weight employees that USCC has. And, yes, we do have many... but nobody is perfect!

I have worked for US Cellular since November of 2007. I work in a call center environment. Since November, I went from customer service rep to an Associate Training Specialist. US Cellular is a company that will work for you if you want to succeed. I would never dream of leaving US Cellular for any other company. I am glad that I made the switch from at&t to US Cellular. I truly "Believe in Something Better"! 🙂

HA!!! You are one cynical SOB.

Every job has turnover. Does that mean that she was promoted because of it??? NO! She still had to earn the right to be looked at for that new poistion.

People make their own breaks. The sooner you grow up and realize that, the better your life will be.

And if you don't, sit back and feel sorry for yourself and enjoy the rest of your life living on a lower-middle class salary.

SOB? Hardly. Cynical? Yes.

Of course every job has turnover. McDonald's has turnovers. Big deal.

Of course people make their own breaks. I am grown and I take responsibility for everything I've done and have yet to do.

I'm sure Ms. Thing is the bestest in the world, and that's why she was promoted. Consider also that she fits in with the type of person they like. More power to her and they are lucky to have found someone to tow the corporate line AND like it.

What I find funny is your line "enjoy the rest of your life living on a lower-middle class salary." LOL You obviously don't work for USCC! If you make more than lower-middle class wages, then you wouldn't be wasting your time on a message board. That kills me.

Uscellular is a good company to work for. You get to meet and talk to the highest ups in the company. They do care about you as a person. When you do meet then its not just the typical hi nice to meet ya and bye. They will actually spend time with you to see how work is going and if you have any questions for them. you can email the ceo directly with any issues or concerns. ONe thing i like best is that they make company changes and policies mostly based on what the majority of the associates say.If you have a good idea about something and it makes good business sense then your idea would likely be used to make certain company changes. I have seen it happen on mulitiple occassions. This really gets you motivated to think like a company owner a...

All in all, you can't go wrong???

You make what you want out of your workplace. If you want to get 'clique-y' and associate with your co-workers outside of work, then it is a great company to work for.

If you are like most adults, and want limited contact with co-workers off the clock, then be prepared for zero advancement opportunity.

I have posted several pro-USCC messages in the past, but reality has struck me (and no, I haven't been fired). This company is brainwashing people (all big companies do).

If you want below average pay for this industry, then USCC is the place to work!!! YEAH, enjoy the lower middle class life that I do (atleast for a couple more weeks until I find the right, new opportunity).
